April 27, 2007 - Nintendo may have just become a major player in the RPG field. Bandai Namco Holdings issued a press release today announcing that it will transfer 80% of its 96% stake in Monolith Soft to Nintendo, effective May 1.

As reason for the move, the firm cited considerations involving the future growth of the Monolith studio and the desire to strengthen its relationship with Nintendo in the console software business.

Yay RPG's :D

PS: Not the Monolith that made F.E.A.R

Well yeah that game too. But they also put out No One Lives Forever/2, AVP2, Tron 2.0, and FEAR 2 as well. When I first played Tron 2.0 I instantly knew this was a great game company. Nintendo got a great studio!!! ;)

Ah thank goodness, I was about to blow a gasket LOL.
This is one of my favorite game producers, losing it to Nintendo would've been a disaster...

Why would it be a disaster? Because they were basically bought out by Nintendo. Before they were bought out by WB anyways.

Oh thank science. I swear to science I was like , "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo"

whew. :D

because. Nintendo doesn't make PC games

I am very glad to see Nintendo buying up some very decent developers. After all, their war chests have got to be just about bursting by now!!!

So, Sony loses another one, sweet.

I'd buy a Nintendo. I would not buy a Sony.

Xenosaga is gone, finished, nothing, nada. Plus the series was just weak compared to its predecessor Xenogear.

Xenogears was so tight. I love that game. I wonder what game might come to Nintendo now. Hopefully it won't be like Rare was, how they took forver to do much when they aligned with MS.

yeah xenogears was too good. but namco failed xenosaga by making a ridiculous confusing plots, and whats up with religious references like judaism thrown in this game?

The only positive thing from this game is kos mos.

Yea Kos mos was cool. The rest were a bunch of B-movie types. I found I didn't really enjoy Xenosaga.

I loved Xenogears though. I just happened across it. I must have got lucky because it seems it was a hard game to find here.

I loved the combo martial arts RPG. That shit ruled.

My girlfriends little brother wouldn't stop pestering me to sell it to him, and eventually I sold it for a nice profit. I had bought it for $35 used at a store owned by a local man. I sold it for $70 if I remember correctly. I hadn't even got to play too far into it, but I had been to busy with his sister to play much video games anyway. ;)

That was like 8 years ago at least, and I've always wanted to play it again. I ordered it, and it should be arriving today.
:D

Can't wait to play it again.

For a moment, I thought we were talking about the FEAR/NOLF developer.

Thanks for scaring the shit out of me.

I don't know, I didn't like Xenogears as much as everybody else.....the story is just so dragged out..and not interesting enough for me. And sometimes, the maps are just so horrible to navigate with the camera hiding behind walls and shit half the time. The battles were awesome, and the story was pretty good....just I guess what really pisses me off is the long ass talking sequences on the last disk. it's like I'm deaf watching a movie.

They already have one game in the pipeline, Disaster: Day of Crisis.

Oh yeah, hey, I'm back. :O
