Nintendo Wii destroys all!!

You must surround yourself with the wrong crowd then. I know very few people who prefer the 360 or PS3 over the Wii this generation.

Wii60! :imu:

Not here, I dont know maybe its just our locations or something. My friend owns a lan here in Kansas and everyone that comes in talks about mostly the 360 but recently they have been talking about the PS3. But very very little about the Wii, infact my buddy has one setup at the cafe and only the kids play it not to say that makes it bad or something.

Maybe us Brits are just less embarassed about making fools of ourselves in front of the TV. :E

It's extremely weird fun in a way that graphics can't acheive. Graphics are the most obvious part of a game, but they are also the first thing to get old and forgotten.

I own a PS2, and there are PS3 games I would like to play, but I vastly prefer the nintendo simply because I already have a PS2.
I don't need a second, chunkier one.
Even if it were only $200, it's redundant.

So, sure, the Wii sold out of every unit, I'm not surprised. The numbers of how many units it had available shouldn't really be compared to the PS3 / Xbox360 because it's like comparing apples to oranges in terms of how many the manufacturers could produce anyways.

And that makes the XBOX360 and PS3 sales comparable? No, it doesn't. It's a console launch: they better look ahead at how many they can push out for maximum sales.

Well like I said Ive played all three and I think Wii sucks. And IMO most people that can afford to choose 360 or PS3 will.

Call me crazy, but I'm one of those people. The 360 interests me somewhat, but if I want something with good graphics, etc., well, I have a gaming PC for that.

Moreover, console gaming doesn't really interest me anymore. I want immersion. Sitting on my couch relaxed isn't immersion. Sitting in front of a monitor, lights dimmed, fingers on the keyboard is immersion -- so is actually controlling your character. Instead of aiming with joysticks (hardest thing possible, btw), you aim it yourself. Wii is immersion. I look at the PS3 and XBOX. What do they have to offer? Good graphics? Snore.

Also i think one point to offer is that fact that the Wii is promoting gaming with friends - not just SP gaming. Most of the titles that use the Wii's better tech are games that are fun for a group of people, not just one of two playing a game like Halo on MP.

Well theres part of your problem right there, Im not saying thats the ONLY reason people buy or are interested in the Wii... is becuase of lack of money. Obviously thats not the case, Nintendo is the only company trying anything new which also attracts alot of people to the system. What I am saying is given the right conditions lets say that the 360, PS3, and Wii are at or near the same price level. As well as made their launch debutes with the same amount of systems, I strongly think that the 360 or PS3 would out do the Wii any day!

You can add me to the list who would still buy the Wii even if all three consoles were at the same pricepoint. I've played Motorstorm and Resistance on PS3 and I've played Wii Sports and Zelda on the Wii. Motorstorm I really wasn't too impressed by, Resistance was a great game, but not enough to go out and buy a new console good. I love Wii Bowling, I literally played 10 games in a row after my friend went to sleep, because I just kept on telling myself I was going to play one more game and so on. Zelda...nuff said.

And that, in my opinion, is what a console is for.

Just got my Wii today, it owns, period. Wii Sports is sex.

I could buy each console several times over in cash, but all I wanted is a Wii. I have a nice PC for graphics oriented games. I detest playing FPS games with a gamepad and I'll admit that the Wii hasn't delivered on that front...YET, but it will.

I was bored with gaming for the last year or so and now I'm excited to be back because finally something has changed. I think back to when I was a kid playing Intellivision and I'm amazed the input hasn't changed much since then. Talk about stagnation. The underpowered Wii is a breath of fresh air. I'll take it any day over any of the others.

Someone who thinks the sameway!
Not a console fan, but the Wii is the only console I'd fork out money to own.

I look at the XBOX. What do they have to offer? Good graphics? Snore.

- Graphics
- Xbox Live; friends, messages, downloads, etc
- Arcade; Geometry Wars, etc
- Good peripherals; wheel, camera, etc
- Games; R6:Vegas, Viva Pinata, GoW, etc
- Media Centre

And so on..

I know being cynical and pretending that the only thing the 360 offers is good graphics is the new (Old ?) rage, but please, there is more to it than that and the Wii isn't the only console that can be 'fun.'

agreed, i own a xbox 360 and plan on getting a wii cause it pwns hard.

Whats that sony? did i just get 2 consoles for the price of your gay system? why..yes i did.

Wii > PS3

true dat. the xbox is tons of fun. have you played GoW yet xbox haters? you cant really say anything bad until youve played the top-rated games like GoW. thats reason enough for me to buy and xbox and not a PS3, plus as a bonus i could get a Wii too for about the same price of sony's machine. Sony has what? good graphics? thanks ill pass, most of that i can get on my pc. Xbox + Wii > PS3.

Amen. I'm sick of hearing this shit.

Granted that a PC does cost a considerable amount more than an Xbox 360, a PC and Wii combo can trump those and more. I never said it wasn't fun to play: I play on my friends a lot and have a blast (Saints Row, etc.) are there are some exclusives I wish I has a 360 for. But, for me, it's not justifying the purchase of a 360. This argument can go on and on; it comes down to personal opinion and personal taste and definition of "fun."

Ok well your one in a few. Im saying the mojority would unless they're total tight asses. But I bet you get bored with it and eventually buy a 360 or PS3! ;)

I happen to have 800 bucks burning a hole in my pocket. And you know what I'm buying? A Wii. Not because it's cheaper, but because I like it more. Not everyone agrees with you- get used to it.

Qonfused, high-end graphics on a PC will eventually outdo the 360's, but at a far steeper price tag. And games on PCs need to take into account a wide range of specifications, whereas console developers can focus in on console standards. You need to take that into account.

I explained the money issue in my last post. It is somewhat easier for the developers to push out games for a gaming console considering that's what they're used for. PCs are more complicated, but in congruency to what they're capable of. I honestly do not need another pure gaming machine as I have my computer. As I said, this discussion can go on, but it purely comes down to personal taste. The Wii did something different. For everything else there's (Mastercard) my PC.

GoW is coming out on PC eh ? You wish. And that's what, 1 out of the 3 I listed plus the the ton of X360-only games.

Wait, there is a universal, integrated, etc PC app which does everything Xbox Live does ? Oh, you mean it's all butchered and spread around the yard ? I see, that's quite, uh, comparable. I could go on about the lack of a unified Arcade on the PC too, but sure, you could compare them but they're different beasts.

Viva Pinata and GoW are on PC ? That's news to me. What about the other X360 exclusives ? They're all on PC too ?

No, the 360 allows you to stream content from a PC so you can view it on your TV so it saves you buying a Media Centre specific PC. You just don't get it.

You never said it wasn't fun to play but you implied that all it had was good graphics and that made you sigh.

Why should I get a Wii ?

- Graphics ... It's not 1998 anymore
- Xbox Live; friends, messages, downloads, etc ... 360/PS3/PC
- Arcade; Geometry Wars, etc ... 360/PS3/PC
- Good peripherals; wheel, camera, etc ... 360/PS3/PC
- Games; R6:Vegas, Viva Pinata, GoW, etc ... 360/PS3/PC
- Media Centre ... 360/PS3/PC x2
- 'Sensing' controller ... PC/PS3
- HD ... 360/PS3/PC

Boy ! Now that I use my amazing logic I'm sooo not getting a Wii ! :|

Hell, how about why should I get a PC ?

- Graphics ... My card will be outdated how quickly ?!
- Xbox Live ... I have to install how many programs, 7 ?! And they aren't integrated (Among lacking other Xbox Live specific things) ?!
- Arcade ... uh.. so I have to download an emulator (What's an emulator ?) and than find ROMs (What's a ROM ? Is that legal ?!) ?!?
- Games ... Speaking of 'good graphics only' we have the main contender in this little area. Hey, another generic FPS, booyah
- Media Centre ... So, I have to watch it on this small screen, no remote (Or not easily), have a PC near my TV, etc

.. etc.

See, ANYONE can put forward an amazing argument like yours showing how one thing can do everything else the other can but quite frankly, it's not that simple, no matter how desperate you get. :|

You remind me of that person in the SupCom thread saying how it's a boring and generic (Or so) RTS or basically anyone who tries to make derogatory comments about something by stupid and simple comments, oh well.

GoW is coming out on PC eh ? You wish. And that's what, 1 out of the 3 I listed plus the the ton of X360-only games.

I will bet you 10 million dollars that GoW is coming for PC. Its almost a sure bet.

-Graphics... You card will be outdated long after the 360 is outdated. In fact once the dx10 cards come out, the 360 card is officially outdated.
-Xbox Live... Yes, because having options is always a bad thing. And it is SOOOOO hard to download stuff.
- Arcade ... Download emulator, download rom, play. Hard? No. Legal? Who gives a ****?
- Games ... Dawn of War, Company of heros, Total War games, etc. Plus mods out the ass for many games.
-Media Center... You can watch shit on your tv screen easy, remotes usually come with the tuner card or pc bundle, wow that was hard. Instead of having a xbox360 by your tv you have a PC... omg teh world is over!

...etc.

Krynn, the latest PC game is not going to take on the full potential of the latest video card. In terms of raw power, they will supercede the 360's. But it will be a long time until you start getting maximum usage of it. PC games, as stated before, have to keep in mind a broad range of computer specifications. The latest video card still needs to run in tandem with your processor, RAM, OS, drivers, HD speeds, et cetera. Console standards allow developers to push their games closer to the limit because there's only one specification to focus on.

I think destrukt nailed it. It's not necessarily a comparison of capabilities as much as it is one of efficiency and unity. So while the PC may have more options and potential depth to it, you will be hard-pressed to find a configuration as seamless and efficient as the 360's. That's not some kind of bias. That's the simple truth in regards to "pick up and go" media machines such as Microsoft's consoles.

I'm not saying one is better than the other. But let's stop being ignorant and pretending the 360 is just an inferior PC imitation.

Wooooo, relevant!

Can people use common sense when reading my posts? Do I have to fill in each and every detail about everything or can we just use logic and agree that most of the "exclusive" games on XBOX360 will come to the PC? Of course it takes more money to build a PC equal or better than a X360. Of course every thing's not in one place (which is a lame comparable "feature" imo). I did say that the X360 was fun based on the games and graphics. All I'm saying: since I already have a gaming computer, I see no reason to buy a X360 at this time.

- HD ... 360/PS3/PC

Everything listed here has PC next to it, so we've covered that. The only specification there that has to do with the Wii is graphics. Can we use common sense please? You're obviously against the Wii, so your post is already biased. Wii has (but not comparable to Xbox Live -- Microsoft has a great thing going there) an online community, the Wii has (or soon to be -- it's a new console, **** off) tons of arcade games, the Wii has the ultimate peripheral: the controller as nothing else is needed, the Wii has (soon) amazing games that are then again enhanced by the controller, the Wii has a sensing controller beyond anything else. The only thing missing would be the graphics, media center and the HD capabilities... and that's where my PC kicks in. I did not buy a Wii to compare to any other console out right now as it's not comparable. You cannot compare the Wii to other consoles as it's not the same. It's not the same in any way. If I wanted a controller, I can play a racing game on my PC with a X360 controller (which I do use). But, no, I wanted a different way of playing hence why I bought a Wii. If you're not sold on the controller, the console is ruined for you. If not, it's the best thing to show up in a long ****ing time.

I cannot change your opinion, only defend mine. To me (person opinion thing again; why do I feel I'm repeating myself over and over?), the Wii is the best thing to come in a long time. The new way to play games is a breath of fresh air. Good graphics are good. That's, basically, what "next-gen" is all about.

But this time around, I wasn't looking for that.

I'm done with arguing with people that cannot use common sense and people that cannot read deeper into my posts. There are benefits to each system, but I feel that the Wii is not comparable to the X360 and PS3. They're aiming for different ways of entertainment. If anyone wants to continue this argument, go ahead, but I'm not going to be there.

So while the PC may have more options and potential depth to it, you will be hard-pressed to find a configuration as seamless and efficient as the 360's
Which is exactly why I like being able to program my own Apps.

Anyway the Wii is ment for a new kind of fun. A type of raw fun that the Ps3, 360, or Pc cant really offer. Thats not to say they arn't fun. I love the Pc, and the 360 has some wow games(Gears of War has one of the coolest games ever) and I cannot wait for Halo 3. The Wii is not ment to be a media player. It is ment to be a game console and nothing else.

I like it.

Never said everyone does or should agree with me numbnuts, geez get the dam sand outta your vagina!

Yup, I'm completely against the Wii so I preordered one just to show Nintendo who's the boss. So no, I'm not 'obviously' against the Wii and my post isn't biased. Stop assuming so much.

You speak of people not using common sense and not reading deeper into your posts yet you just did the same thing and what I was getting across with my comment about the Wii flew right over your head. Actually, basically everything you just said was addressing some imaginary argument I was apparently putting forward about the Wii so bl to you.

I'm done arguing with people who throw around stupid logic, fail to address things and are just plain clueless so I guess we're both done.

I brought my wii to school today because now that drumline is over we do nothing in that class until next semester. Some of the guys from the battery came in and started making fun of us and telling us we were gay for playing it :|

They're just jealous because they don't have one. You could always through the wii controller at their head :D

else just say "Thats Great" and go about your business.

That goes for the below:
-People who wont shut up
-A person who is being a dick to you
-and other annoying people.

else if your bigger than them.... :)

Anyway I never like getting into dumb arguments(minus the internet). Not my thing. Plus I haven't really done it since 9th grade. Actually since the 9th grade everythings being great for me in life.
