NIVIDIA driver offically released

I've heard the newer GeForceFX drivers can cause some slowdowns in the older GeForce4 ti series and below. Is this true? Hrm.

quite the opposite from what I can tell on mine, a little old GF4MX (I'm still kinda surprised COD demo even runs, let alone that it runs well! :):))

So you're definitely getting a performance increase on your older GF4?

Edit: Why the heck was this moved to off-topic? It should have been moved to Hardware Discussion. :dozey:

yep deffinately speed increase, I dunno what they did to improve it, haven't noticed any visual differences in HL1.. the COD demo I tried earlier looks amazing and I was very very surprised it didn't slow down once too, for a new game on an old system thats pretty rare :)

any Nvidia drivers later than ver. 41.09 cause my computer to have a ton of different problems including an inability to play DVD movies in PowerDVD - it tells me that my TV out is not configured correctly when I'm not even tryin to use it. Also, the later Nvidia drivers seem to make my whole system more unstable, so I never upgrade anymore. I never noticed much of a performance increase anyway. Only downside so far to using these earlier drivers - can't turn decals on in Halo. Otherwise, ever game seems to run just as fast as far as I can tell with my eye alone. I have a Geforce 3 Ti 500.

Edit: Unless you're having massive problems, I wouldn't upgrade. My experience has told me that. Everyone lauds Nvidia's driver support, but I think their drivers tend to be as buggy as anyone else's. Maybe my computer just has lots of hardware incompatibilty problems, but I never seem to get most of them till I try to use later drivers. I've heard that this latest driver has screwed up BF1942 and especially Halo for some people. Just be wary. You can always roll back to earlier drivers, but it's hard to keep your registry clean - I never could get those special apps to work that're supposed to completely remove drivers...

Only thiing i've noticed so far is max payne's shadow (MP2) is a square....kinda wierd deeing it only happened once....I hate Nivida

I'm gettin a radon with the HL2 bundle in May. I'm just gonna wait till prices drop...ATI kicks Nivida's ass anyway

The 45.23 drivers on that site are on the Nvidia page, they're actually old ones.
