from the reviews doesnt seem that there combines are shooting thru the windows and kicking the doors... btw sorry for my english lol ;)

Well, I played the leak and the E3 2003 video seemed to be a little faked to me.....Unless they majorly overhauled the AI, I doubt you'll see combine kicking in doors.

I think they were scripted events in the E3 trailers, but I'm still expecting some pretty near AI. Even if it doesn't happen, it's good enough cuz Hl2 balances the not-so-good AI wit everything else that makes it unique :D

I still hope so it will be in the game!!! :sniper:  :smoking:

The 2003 vids, especially the combines in the Traptown vid was heavily scripted. It was done this way because Valve wasn't done with the AI. It works more like an example on how the combine AI will be.

what about the combine dropping the soda can and ordering you to pick it up??

That's in the real game. There are few scripted events, but most is down to the AI. The bigger the game difficulty is set at, the better the AI will be.

That's in the game, at the start. It's a scripted sequence to add flavor to the world. It's quite funny.

One thing that bothers me, people treating the word "scripted" as if it were a curse word or something. These scripted moments are what make the world feel alive. You can't leave everything up to AI at all times, hence some scripted action sequences. You also need to progress the story, hence the scripted story sequences.

I thought PCGamer said it had good AI, expect for the allies, who would block your way, but a nudge would get them through
"If you go into a bathroom, why do they all have to follow?"

Hell, thats nothin a lil patch cant take care of.

I'm apprehensive about AI. Check out the Combine soldiers in one of the Coastline binks. Standing in open taking damage. No hiding or anything just standing shooting. I hope I'm wrong...

I am expecting major amounts of scripted events in HL2...but it doesn't bother me too much.

There is a difference between set-piece and scripted. The (almost all of) Traptown video was a set-piece.

dude, with the reviews Half-life 2 are getting, it must be a promising game living up to its promise.
