No children still registered

Sigh, I am getting a bit worried. I spent all of yesterday and last night downloading HL and DOD. When I tried playing (the completely downloaded) DOD, I got the No children registered error message.

What am I to do? This is getting a bit tiresome. I might just give up and wait a week or two for the downloads to come down and get some decent download rates.




But is there any way to fix this problem as of now?

Hmm, when I ran the installer it asked me if I was under 13 or not.

Maybe it has something to do with that.

I did above 13. When I ran the installer, all the converstions failed. Could this be the problem? Or heck, maybe it needs my HL CDKEY and it didn't get what it wanted...

wtf maybe they stopped steam when i went to put in my pass it said the steam network is not up

I tried putting in my password, and 6 minutes later it was still trying to log in. The content servers aren't full, what is going on?

Now it seems to be updating, brought me to the screen that you can choose either Create new account or Login using existing....

What is going on!!! I cant even start steam!

I got this same error when I tried to log-in this is just dumb.

I have yet to play a single game. HL freezes my whole computer, DOD gives me this No Children Still Registered error, and I even get that error when just trying to load up steam.

It locks up when I try to navigate through menues as well. I loved the Steam beta, and I have never had such problems. Don't accuse me of being a steam basher for saying this, but I think this is a huge cluster f***!

Yeah, I get that stupid children message when I try to log in now. (It sucks because last night I finally got every game downloaded 100%)

The children still blah blah error has nothing to do with humans or age
It's a class in C++.
I'm no programmer, but if you look at the longish error msg, you'll see they mention debug etc.

Rubbish. Utter garbage is what this is. I mean how hard can it be to develop such a relatively small program?
How can they make those awesome physics in hl2, and not be able to make a small game browser go smoothly? hehe, it's weird.

Hah! No!

Children means sub processes run by the program, it's been there since the beta: I remember I laughed so hard when I got it till someone explained it to me thus taking the fun out of it. You just have to keep (re)trying, it will eventually go away.

I've never been able to login in on Steam. When i've filled in my Nick/Password and press Log In i get an error after awhile.. Something with steam is down or i should check my internet connection :/

Anyone else experienced that?

me too I just can't login..

I kept getting either your email adress or password is wrong so I went through teh forgott password process and changed my password and that was a sucess. Straight after I tried logging in and I get the same email or password is wrong error which I know is a lie because I just set my password so it was definatly right! So stupid.
