no cs:s beta for hl2 owners?

I got my 9600 xt from best buy and it didnt have a coupon but they gave me a free copy any way. I hope i can still get the beta even though i didn't get an actual ticket.
 
is there a list anywhere of which boxed versions (by that i mean whos selling it e.g sapphire, hercules, creative whatever) include the coupon for hl2. because im planning to upgrade my computer when we get a release date for hl2 and id be pissed if i bought hl2 and then found my new card came with a coupon.

Only the xts of the 9600,9800,x800 came with coupons i thought! YAYZORS i bought a 9800 xt when it came out :) im so frigin happy tat i get to beta test cs:s. The coupon is in the safest place in my house(under my bed in the 9800xt box)lol! I cant wait for the beta to come out so i can be in a online game with other beta testing people and start to talk about how better we are than non beta testers. and well make up a funny name for them something like noob, mabey nobet? :cheers: YAY this has made my week!

Well I think thats ruled you out of getting the beta. You'll definately need the cd-key that comes with the coupon. Badluck m8 :(
 
I'll find a way. I'll probably end up calling ati and asking them about it. If they dont give me the answer I want then I'll sneak into valve and pay Gabe a visit.

I would think so, the beta will probably come up on the steam games list like the others.
 
But its a beta, it will just preload for the accounts that get it, and its not HL2, so i dont think there will be a way to enter a HL2 key, I guess you have to make a new steam account to get the CS:S beta this way? am i right?
 
no nader you are wrong, the last thing Valve will do, is make everyone make new accounts. it'll be an option "I have CZ" - steam detects this and Beta is allowed to download. 2nd option "I have HL2 Coupon" - Enter coupon number and voila! Your beta.
Similar to telling Steam that you have CZ retail.
 
Got CZ like a gift today, dident even know i was going too get a gift, lucky me.

If valve was smart they would open up pre-sales of half-life 2 over steam now, and include the CS:S beta. I'd buy :) (assuming they had the CE contents figured out). It would increase the diversity of thier beta group quite a lot, as well as bringing more users to steam, and putting money in thier pockets imediately. Its a win/win/win!

That kinda sounds good :p Pre order HL2 over steam, and you get to participate in the beta :p But what about the people who have already pre-ordered at their local stores for the actual box?
 
this news doesn't affect me.. but i guess its a nice little thing for those without CZ but do have the coupons ;)

I got the same thing. I sent it into ATI right away and I got the voucher pack and HL2 cdkey in the mail.
 
My question is, however:

Will customers holding the ATI coupon receive the HL2 Special Edition or Basic Edition?

It seems a horrible waste to use the coupon if we'll just have to buy the game anyway to get any content or material included in the Special Edition.
 
How does it work, i just double clk cs:s when its released and it will ask me for my coupon cdkey code... and ill have it..

when u click on a game in the avalible games section it asks if u want to buy it or if you already owns it( a window pops up and tells u to put in the cd-key or key from the coupon). Once u put in the hl2 voucher cd-key it instantly allows u do download all games included in the premier pack, and when cs:s and hl2 come out all u have to do is dbl-clikc on the game in the avalible games wection and viola it downloads into the my games section. its a simple as that! :)
 
I have a question, if i use the coupon code for the source beta, can i use it for hl2 later when its reales too? Or is the coupon only for one game usable?

I imagine so, the coupon entitles you to HL2 when its released, which means if CS:S is part of HL2, it should be included whichever way you get it.

unless the coupon only entitles you to the basic HL2 version. I'm pretty sure the coupon wont entitle you to the extra's in the collectors edition though.
 
On the ATI website it states that the coupon entitles you too HL2 SP and MP so i'd guess that would also include CS:Source with it

Being that HL2 SP with MP is the complete edition of HL2. You get me?

Luckely I have the above-mentioned voucher. If get the CS:S Beta will it my right to get HL2, or what? Because I hope it won't.
