Anyone else agree?

That would make sense, he was trying to show an aspect of the game but it didnt work for some reason.

Or he was trying to show that the weapon applies a force to the skeleton and it moves accordingly.

You can cut zombies in half, thats all i care about.

Someone make a chainsaw mod!

The man is right!
If only I had known c++ and shit :/ I guess I cant make a mod in asp so...

Someone make a chainsaw mod! like, a disgusting sick mod!

Limb detachment is cool, but total gibbage is stupid. It was funny in Half-Life, but it's a bit rediculous that a human body turns into 4 or 5 chunks of meat and maybe a skull.

OK, get gibalicious for UT2k3.

crank the multiplier up to about 10.
then you get about 50 chunks of meat, and 10 or so skulls. :)

or crank it up to 10000
that fried my PC...took about ten minutes for the gibs to stop pouring out, and the entire room was filled to camera height with gibs...

they way that container fell on him...i mean that doesnt make you change in pulp, maybe the stronger weapons do

I don't see why this applies?? are you saying that instead of making mods with gibs, we should get girlfriends? so..., what, we can murder and grossly deform them with chainsaws and explosives?? hmmmm.

 i hope not!

heheheh heh heh heh heh :cheese:

I think he was just trying to kill the zombie but leave the headcrab alive so he could attack. All the other zombies just die and take the HC with them. You know?

Actually I think one of the severed zombies looses it's headcrab. You can hear it attack you, and the effect it has on health. The you see it dead when the player shoots the barrel. Probably jumped into the blades or something.
of course, it could perfectly be just some headcrab that had nothing to do with the zombies.

Yeah, I agree. Once I hit one of the marines in OpFor in the head with a wrench using the alternate fire button, and the whole body somehow split apart... That was a bit unrealistic.

I'm not looking for the most realism, I'm looking for the most entertainment, and while watching a body burst into gobs of goo can be fun, I'm looking forward to exaggerated rag-doll effects as it'll be something new.

Yes, after discussion I agree: gibs are a thing of the past. Ragdolls-only would be fine, yes. Ragdolls with certain sever points, such as pelvis, waist, shoulders, and neck would be good too, but as a menu setting. Then if you shot someone in the shoulder with a really powerful weapon, their arm would detach and become its own little ragdoll. How much force it takes to sever should be a console command I think.

It would be easy to do. They modeled the Zombies in traptown to break at a certain point, so you could easily model a torso, head, 2 legs and 2 arms on each model for say a day of defeat 2 mod with mines.

or do UT2k3s method.

Head, Torso (Two peices for torso) Arms (Two beices each, cut at elbow) legs (Two peices each, cut at knee)

voila, insta-amiblity for FUN effects. :)

yes that's what it should be like - but as for the zombie, its already been confirmed by valve (as I suspected) that the zombie cut is hardcoded just for the zombie, i.e. the half zombietorso is actually a different eney that spawns as the original is being sliced. Its not that versitile an effect. I'm sure mods will take full advantage of dismemberment, though. The zombie method isn't the best - to avoid AI errors and complications (combine trooper with no arms - imagine the fun...and impossible ai complexity) so dismemberment can only happen feasably upon death, so the ai doesn't have to deal with the constraints and problems of having to make decisions based on yet another super-complicated factor: the physical completeness of the enemy.

I think dismemberment in a ww2 mod or something along those lines is a must

Yeah, I think gabe said the break/slice point on the zombie was preset, not a diff entity, kinda like the wood, so you could probably set multiple points and make them slice-offable.
