Its past 7 and their shifts end at 7. Maybe tomorrow?

They can work as long as they want to. But I do agree, no media today. Perhaps, tomorrow will be best.

Edit: Erik Johnson emailed Efficient [Moderator for the official Steam channel] and said that the "media will most likely come tomorrow". Now i dont know how credible this guy is but it seems fairly reasonable to believe him! So cheer up ! :cheese:

<Efficient> Erik emailed me sayin release most likely tommorow

im beggining to trust this guy less and less...

Well, I have an email from Gabe himself that says the media will be out June 30. Hmmm.

Efficient has had a different story every day. He pretends to be part of the Steam team, always talking about "we need to fix bugs" and yadda yadda, but he never knows anything more than the rest of us, and just seems like some random college student who happens to have channel ops on #steam

They dont like dissapointing fans, im sure it will be out tomarrow.

Efficient is very trustworthy. He is a good guy. Its just too bad that he gets blamed for conveying messages from the people making these videos. Its not his fault.

i personally think that they are probably working extra hard on hl2 so that it lives up. don't really care about the videos if its interfering with hl2 the game.

umm ive got a couple of Q's for ya's.

1. how big is the new media(is it the same in better res or do u just not know?)
2.if the 'new' media does come soon do one of u mind emailing it to me?(ill PM one of u about the email)also depending on the 1st question. but anyways,

i also checked fileplanet and they said they have 'Updated' video. ts looks like the 23 min vid from e3 but the title changed. to 'Updated'?perhaps its what were talkin about? check it out...

I know he's just passing on info, but it's the same info everyone has and he acts like he has a direct line to god and works at valve

That's old: fileplanet redid their movie a little while ago to give it slightly better compression.

I think one of the Valve people said the video(s) [they are split up] wil be ~800mb.

The one on FP is the e3 presentation with a clearer picture and such.

The res is 1024x768. It will be like playing the game.

This is the latest info i got from Efficient

We're done with the movie, just fixing bugs; which can take a couple minutes to a couple days

If we release vids now, it will creat new bugs so we're preparing so that when we release, no new bugs will come

Dunno if he really knows anything or not

Erik says Thursday is the most likely day.

a place that you'll hear about just as soon as it's over so it doesn't get spammed. :)

whats it matter youve seen what they are releasing anyway.

God gamers are such brats nowadays. That goit gunny on that other thread going off his nanna about it. Its some media, its not a demo or the game, and youve already seen it.

look at the bright side...at least were getting new media and besides the games commin out at the end of september....i dont know if you've noticed or not....thats a long time to wait so stop naggin about the delay of the video for a couple days and just...go outside or something..i try to. You guys still have a long wait so i wouldn't get to wraped up in Half Life 2 just yet...When september rolls around, then you can talk all you want....in the meantime, go fishing. I know its hard because i like talkin about Half Life 2 too but honestly....we gotta chill...all of us

wasnt guinny banned? if so, :-D.

he said they might have new stuff thrown into the package as well as the old stuff with higher rez, and should look close to the final product. (none of those anomolies bewteen demo playing and such, like when the guys goes flying before the flying bar hits him)

i hope they include the engine with the wrench, and maybe the cliff fall.

why cant you just get the message and stay away? no one likes your spam on every topic. most of it is pointless and gay. yes, i realize this is spam.

hey guinny, make your name like guinny2 or somethin, otherwise ill get confused. unless thatl disrupt your covert operation.

No, he didn't say that, you're letting your imagination get away with itself.

What he said was that new content might come later this week AFTER the e3 stuff. He didn't say anything about the anomalies being in the movies still or not (though Gabe has implied that they have since been fixed)

well he said the anomolies were due to screw-ups between the demo and the video or something. and since its a direct feed i presumed they would be fixed.

direct feed of the demos (since it'll be exactly the same demo recordings)

Bah! If steam is causing a problem, skip steam. Release them on http. So much more efficient.

Steam power was obselete decades ago.

Uh, the whole point of the videos is to test out steam. And not necessarily more efficient at all, nor better for valve's plan for how to release stuff.

Well I didn't get any new half life media from steam today either...sigh

peks-

the odd looking parts of the video will not be fixed. these are due to small inconsistancies in the demo recording/playback (i read this official from gabe, probably somewhere in the stickied thread). these will still be there because it is STILL a demo playback, it's simply a direct feed of the demo playback. it's the exact footage we saw before, on it wasn't recorded via shakycam.

They could be fixed simply because gabe said they were planning on fixing the demo playback.

but it's not a recently shot movie, it's a direct feed FROM e3, and at e3, it wasn't fixed.

at least that's what i got out of the things valve has been saying.
