I've been saying this for ages, as have others:

"A classified report from the U.S. spy agency says Iraqi and foreign fighters are developing a broad range of deadly skills, from car bombings and assassinations to tightly coordinated conventional attacks on police and military targets, the official said.

Once the insurgency ends, Islamic militants are likely to disperse as highly organized battle-hardened combatants capable of operating throughout the Arab-speaking world and in other regions including Europe"

What, but that would mean Cheney lied? Are you sure, how can that be?

If Vice President Dick Cheney could take back a single statement this year, you'd hope it would be an assessment of the Iraq war he offered on Larry King Live late last month: "I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency."

heh I guess he's too short sighted if he believes that "they're in the last throes" especially when faced with this:

"The CIA believes the Iraq insurgency poses an international threat and may produce better-trained Islamic terrorists than the 1980s Afghanistan war that gave rise to Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda"

thanks I feel safer already

I'll wait a day for the Bush apologists to come on in here to spin this in as many circles as possible. They will never admit Bush did wrong; care to bet on that?

The name "War on Terror" becomes more and more laughable each day.

indeed, they might aswell rename it 'war for control of Iraq's oil supplies' because thats sounding more spot on everyday.

"America is safer and more secure than ever", t'ch.

not only america:

"Once the insurgency ends, Islamic militants are likely to disperse as highly organized battle-hardened combatants capable of operating throughout the Arab-speaking world and in other regions including Europe"

makes you wonder what this was all about

ah! I knew it! Europe = future terrorist camp

not a good place for a picnic but I guess they're armed to the teeth for a reason: pesky ants attracted to oil

btw those photos were taken at the time of the hospital lootings .....the US received a lot of flak for having their troops guarding other buildings besides the vital ones like the hospitals and universities where virii like Botulism and polio were stored ...oh joy! good thing they guarded a building full of paper instead

"A Medicine for Peace (MFP) Study Team assessed the ability of the public hospitals in Baghdad to respond to this national crisis. Five general hospitals, seven specialized tertiary-care hospitals, and one specialized outpatient center were surveyed during October and November 2004

.....Three of the surveyed hospitals suffered major bombing damage by Coalition Forces, and five hospitals were looted extensively and vandalized in March and April 2003. Most hospitals closed for weeks to months at that time, but have now reopened. Two facilities are operating at a markedly-reduced census level; the remaining hospitals are at, or above, capacity"

you know, it was a nice little discussion til you had to tangent into hospitals and such, the discussion was about walks and picnics, what do hospitals have to do with any of it?

You didn't address the original topic yet, let me guess you still think the occupation was a good idea?

Come on Bush apologists, at least throw something ridiculous at us like "at least we got all of them contained in one spot".

You want something ridiculous? How about the constant news reports of everything bad happening in Iraq and Afghanistan and barely anything mentioned about the things that are being done to help those countries, and its not just the US doing these good things, its the Coalition
One of the most enlightening views I got on the war in Iraq came from a Japanese finance official who was stationed there to help make sure the JSDF was getting the money it needed to help improve the area they were stationed at

:O

I cant believe you can still stand there and try to justify an illegal war initiated by lying government (any other country and you'd have been invaded by now for committing an act of aggression) ...over 18,000 civlians killed because of the lies propagated by YOUR government, surely that must mean something to you

Britain, America, Canada, they all went in there, didn't they? I guess most Western Nations can't yell at America if they helped in the war, right?

no, canada did not enter the war ..they refused to get into an illegal war from the get-go

Yet they were major supporters of US policies and practices?

who? a handful of conservatives surely ...canada has been for the most part silent ..although we have had more than a few politicians vocally criticsing the US for it's little illegal war ..but it doesnt matter cuz we didnt join the "coalition of the willing" (willing to be lead into one giant mess of a lie)

Chrétien has also indicated that Canada stands ready to participate in the reconstruction of post-war Iraq, including the reorganization of the Iraqi state. This offer—which could include the dispatch of Canadian “peace-keepers” to assist in Iraq’s pacification—is meant to appease Washington. But Ottawa also hopes it will pave the way for Canadian big business to get a share in the lucrative contracts that are to be doled out for the rebuilding of Iraq’s shattered infrastructure and the development of its vast oil reserves.

Yeah, thats might non supportive.

it's a good thing canada isn;t worth fighting over

you keep right on thinking that ...better for us in the long run, prevents the neo-cons from making up stories about canada having wmd

funny thing is if I had said the same thing about the US, I'd have a handful of uber-patriots shouting at me for daring to denegrate the good ol US of A ...but I'm above that ...you continue to live in ignorance ...just dont be so surprised when it's karma payback time

ummmm.... dunno what this whole "karma payback time" thing is (is this a move in Mortal Kombat 4?) but, well, the only reason i can ever see for us taking canada is to get your trees, but still, what do you have in canada that's of any interest to the US?
