Alright guys well i searched the forum alot before searching but did not find any usefull help on my problem. i need to uninstall steam because for reason i have steam files scattered all over my desktop.(i must have done that some how). Hammer will not run properly, i have tried uninstalling hammer and reinstalling it, but still no go. I would really like to clean up my desktop. first off i have searched for hours through my computer for a steam uninstall and i have found some and only 1 works...it tells me it has to be installed before it can be uninstalled??? and in add/remove programs i do not have steam in the list at all? i know its weird so please help me uninstall it somehow

Thx alot

Do you mean desktop? Or do you mean they are scattered across your hdd.

The trouble with moving files manually is that any uninstaller will then not be able to find them.

The best solution I can thing of is to delete anything you can find that is part of the install, then just reinstall steam.

wow fast reply thank you for that. yes i do mean desktop. so you think that would be ok do like lets say i search for my pc using the search option for "steam" and deleting everyhting that comes up. what about the registry wont everything still be there ? thx alot

Yes, your registry will still contain entrys for steam, but you won't have moved them by accident, so just reinstall steam and it will overwrite them with the info for the new install.

If you have moved the files to your desktop, why do you need to search for them? Just to clarify, the desktop is the thing you see if you minimise all open windows. It looks something like:

I know you said you meant that, but if they are on there, then your saying you will search for them confuses me :) Just want to check what your after deleting before you do.

Yes i know what a desktop is lol i have built many computers and sold them in my life. anyways what i meant by searching is Searching for the uninstall. which i could not find anywhere. so to be so confusing.

Thats cool, I just wanted to be sure.

I think the best bet for you is to just download the steam installer. Install it to the default location and let it update everything. After that, best just to delete anything you find that dosen't belong where it is as and when you find it in normal use of your PC.

You should be able to just manually delete the files. Put them in a new folder and then just delete it. But I mite be wrong.
