I know we'll be getting a lot of members because of the new E3 videos, but I've spotted a few headcrabs that are behaving entirely out of the ordinary, such as spaming, flaming, hateful comments, outright disgusting posts, etc.



I'm sure this noob invasion will go the same direction as all of the other ones, but it is annoying nonetheless. With some great moderators :cheers:, a general positive and friendly community attitude, and certain core members that try to keep things under control.....this site will always be the best :)
 
Yeah, ive noticed that too.
Finally I get to do something because some of them are swarming into my development section! ;)

Its flamers from the CS community that have come here, since CS:S was shown they have probably suddenly taken an interest in HL2.

They just have shown that we do things differently here.

The only people causeing trouble are the ones that have been around for ages.
 
You guys can help us out as well. Even if there was 100 of us, we still wouldn't be able to read every single post that is posted so if you guys, if you see any flaming or general behaviour that is frowned upon, use the report post button and PM a moderator that's online we'll be able to sort it out quickly.

Don't worry. Most of us aren't anti-NooB here. We had some of those problems before September 30th, but that has mostly gone away.

The real problem is we've been having some spam attacks from rival sites. We tend to have a great attitude on this forum and people get along very well. What we have problems with is people who come over and participate in flaming, valve hating, and overuse of "WOOT11!!1eleven" type comments. One paticular participant was 100% off topic and posted a link to the american getting his head cut off & tried to move the discussion that direction a few times.

hang in the hl2 forums mainly hl2 discussion so its safe apart from a few oddballs that have been coming up like simmo said which have slipped through the net only to land on a pit of spikes :D
 
to be hones i know what u mean, but its not just noobs who behave like that, it depends on the type of person ur dealing with. i've been coming to this site since around august last year, but i never took part in it or any other forum because of the immaturity i saw in many of them. the reason i stayed with this forum and finally chosen to join was as u mentioned the great attitude and maturity of most of the people here. at 30 years old I would be much older than most of u guys, but glad that i havent lost my passion for games, and glad to be talking to people who share the same passion.

There's no real excuse for misbehaving newbs. While you're still "headcrab" at least, you really need to show that you know your stuff about HL.
 
I wonder how the General Discussion Forum (HL2 discussion) is getting on? I haven't been there in ages. Is it still a complete mess? I pity those that have to mod it.
 
30? Well, I'm 21, and I'm certain I'll be around places like this (maybe here?) when I hit 30. I'll probably play plenty of 3D games until I'm dead. I wouldn't consider myself an addict, but good games are 100x better than good TV (I tried watching TV a few months ago...and that didn't last long) and 10x better than good movies. Obviously HL2 is in the real of superb games...but... :)

Seriously...given the choice....would you trade Half Life 2 for two movies as good as LOTR:ROTK? Especially considering the MODing that will happen, I wouldn't trade HL2 for fifteen LOTR: ROTK quality movies.
 
I totaly agree, even tho i loved ROTK (i watched it 3 times).
I think computer games r the best sort of entertainment(well, plus sex of course which we guys think of as entertainment and girls consider it love makin, yuk :) ) apologies to any females around, this is just a joke!
u will be surprised how many mates of mine i managed to convert into gamers. all i have to do is think about what they like to do in real life and show them a good game about it. and u know what, when u get older and the stress of everyday life grows on ur shoulders there is nothin better than a good sp or mp game to relief the load. iam sure u will be enjoying games as much when ur 30. me? i cant wait to see what games will be like in 20 years time :cheers:
 
I despise the disregard some people give "n00bs" as if their intelligence were defined by their post-count. Often, the opposite is true - just look at me...
 
el Chie is right on that one. Sureley everyones experianced being not noticed in another forum because you have no other posts.
