After a closely matched Best-Of-5 set, North American Rejects (NAR) have claimed victory over Team Liquid in the grand finals of The International 2014 Americas Qualifier.
After some problematic delays yesterday evening, the fifth and final match of the set began at 10pm UTC on May 16th 2014. The match lasted a mere 19 minutes, as NAR were able to exploit significant gold and experience advantages over Liquid's Puck and Slardar to secure early kills with Batrider, Templar Assassin, and Drow Ranger. With NAR's carries snowballing out of control, some aggressive tower pushes from NAR forced Liquid to call the "gg" before most of their line-up was even close to being ready to fight, giving NAR a well-deserved 3:2 victory.
This win sends North American Rejects straight into The International 2014 main event, where they have claimed their spot as the 12th invited team. Team Liquid are not quite out of the running yet however, as their position as runner-ups allows them to fight for the 16th and final slot in the main tournament in July once all of the other qualifiers have been completed.
The South East Asia qualifier is now underway, which you can check out over on the EU or NA Hubs on Twitch.TV.
