This doesn't seem to be talked about much, it's not even open for debate apparently.

I'd just like to know what those people living in North America think about this.

not gonna happen for a long time. for starters Canadians are somewhat anti-American (we hate being constantly thought of as american lite etc. etc.)

plus it probably would be worse of all economies involved.

I could see an economic union like a stronger version of NAFTA, but no common currency and no open borders anytime soon. I could see it happening if Mexico had about the same economic standing as Canada, but with Mexico the way it is I don't think it would be quite right to combine the three (let alone latin america).

In other words, a North American "union" would be more like an "US protectorate" than the EU.
