North Korea Won't Rule Out Preemptive Attack

That link had nothing to do with the deaths of Iraqis at the hands of America. It had only one mention of America, and that was saying that a chemical was obtained from them to desalinate the water.

Isn't the US indirectly responsible, seeing as how they put Saddam in power in the first place?

For putting him in power, yes. Thats where all the faults lie. If we would have never gave him "weapon shipments", or gifts, I doubt this would happen at all. And during the Gulf War, we only expelled him from power, instead of tracking him down and imprisoning him. But then, most dictators do seem good at first, and go bad. France and Britain are indirectly responsible for appeasing Hitler before WWII. I wouldn't doubt Egypt comes up as a problem country that "mysteriously" turned on us too.

look closer ...the document is pre-war ..it's an assessment of iraq's water and sewage plants. I really dont need to elaborate ...most people here are sick to death of this particular issue as I have brought it dozens of time ...so far NO ONE has ever proved wrong ...I suspect because it comes from the proverbial horses mouth

here's some supplemental declassified documents

http://www.gulflink.osd.mil/declassdocs/dia/19950901/950901_0pgv072_90p.html

here's where they predict the people directly affected by the destroyed water and sewage treatment plants ...notice that the assessment says "particularily children" when listing the diseases most likely to occur from lack of sanitary conditions ...it was all orchestrated by the US in an attempt to force iraqi civilians to rise against saddam ...it back fired

http://www.gulflink.osd.mil/declassdocs/dia/19950901/950901_0504rept_91.html

"...assessment is that major disease outbreaks
currently have not occurred in Baghdad or Basrah. For severe
outbreaks to develop, a protracted war or more extensive
collateral damage would have to occur
."

here's the coup de grace:

"Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it.
