well, somehow we've managed to take over a huge portion of the planet, destory billions of acres of trees, and produce more greenhouse gasses than michael moore after a double bean burrito (that oughtta keep you right wingers happy for a second and maybe you can read this), yet according to say....G.W. Bush there is no such thing as global warming, no need to worry about decreasing emmisions, or signing pesky kyoto nonsense, but um, the ****ing ice caps are melting faster than you can say irreversible catastrophe. My favorite quote (note that it comess from people who might know just a bit more about say snow and ice, than you and me, so lets not argue with them)
The study by NASA and the National Snow and Ice Data Centre predicts that at the current rate, the ice cap could disappear completely within 60 years.
"US scientists say the northern icecap has shrunk by 1.7 million square kilometres this year. That's equivalent to the entire size of Queensland."
well what could be the problem?
And so what we've seen in the past four years is a radical decay of that floating ice cover, and it's really got us convinced that the Arctic is really undergoing a fundamental change, and I think the most likely explanation is that the effects of greenhouse gases, greenhouse warming is starting to have an effect.
oh, that. well why didnt someone warn us? we could have tried to stop it!
the sad, sad, sad truth is, it is too easy a problem for humans to ignore at least until it is too late. ugh
oh and guess what, its not just the polar bears and inuits who have to worry, read the last, chilling (pun intended) paragraph, this is going to have disastrous consequences upoon the whole world, how bout a hurricane katrina every single week. maybe that will wake up half you morons who dont see the problem before you **** everyone.
I can only hope that this information sweeps through the news media and opens some eyes. by weeks end if awarness isnt up and people starting to get shit together and realize the scope of our problem then we are screwed.
