Hi, my computer recently died on me so I had to reformat...

I am running Windows XP Pro, and everything is working fine now, except for Norton Anti-Virus 2002...

Basically the update list within LiveUpdate is corrupted some how and I have tried the tips which Norton recommended (configuring and reinstalling etc) but nothing has worked so far, please help me if you could with any comments, thank you everyone... :D

I've been having the same problem recently too, for about the past 3 or so days. My computer is down completely tho, the windows/system32/config/system file is gone or corrupted so windows xp can't start, I think it might've had something to do with the norton screw-up. Have you been having any other problems with the computer lately?

i cant seeem up liveupdate mine...anyone know why? i have registration for another year.

Yeah after the format I found that I had the Blaster.Worm in my computer, but that problem has been sorted completely...

I had this problem before.. I had to uninstall, delete all registry entries NAV made, then reinstall. Only then was it fixed. Uninstall alone didn't help, something gets messed up in the registry..

OK, thanks, I will give this a try and let ya know! :)

Thanks, I did as you said and LiveUpdate is fine now, thank you...

My only issue now is that when I try to defragment my computer, a file somewhere deep in a Symantec folder is corrupted and Diskeeper refuses to defrag... does anyone now how to repair, delete, or get rid of this folder/files as it won't let me...

Again, any ideas greatly received, thanks to everyone who reads this... :)

Often the reason for not deleting the file is the filename is too long or using invisible characters. In that case, Delete from a command prompt using a mask
Navigate to the directory and use a mask, for example:

If the filename is

dat4808h[}_#IN%(*UV%{)({B)(J{$W)(TJN:JPDOSJP(>>.a482h8[\wr90)*&%_)#%

del dat*.*

will grab this file despite what funkiness is in the name. Just make sure no other files get caught in the mask. You can do a test by..

dir dat*.*
