Reportedly it doesn't use all the advanced technology things that'd make it run slowly, like DX9 shaders and such things. From what I've read, it's only a DX8 game.

hmmm well what i've seen from the gameplay videos, graphics r still stunning. I cant really tell the difference myself, so i'll still be pickin it up anyways.

BS! This is what it says in the console when I start it:

Compilation date: May 19, 20002.

Besides that, there is another, newer leaked(stolen) allready alpha version. Recently I recieved a screenshot from a russian-speaking dude, where a stalker is holding a knife. He said it's build 22XX(don't remember exactly). But says that he will not release this version.

Edit: He also mentioned that they removed the six-barrel gun and added the SVU and TOZ-34 Hungting Rifle.

Tomorrow I'm going to ask him for more skreens.

Chris, yeah, the HL2 stolen build nearly ruined HL2 for me too (if that's what you're referring to).
This is old news, yes? lol, I've played it, I'm trying to ruin other games so HL2 will be on a level playing field (lol kidding), either way.. it's as has been said, there's nothing to bog down the FPS. It also doesn't have alot of the awesome geometry that most of the buildings in the official STALKER shots we've seen..

Also, no ragdoll, dynamic lighting, shadows, physics, (proper) ai, shaders, etc. All the guns have the default CS gun sounds as placeholders.

I can't believe xbitlabs (or whatever) benchmarked this pre-alpha, really sad.

A leak is different than a theft.

Leak = someone who gets a legit copy (in this case, it was rumored to be some gaming station that had it on air) for preview/review then makes a copy, gives it to a friend, etc.. you know the story, one copy leads to another leads to mass internet distribution

Theft = well, a theft. Only game I know of which it happened to is HL2 (I'm pretty sure it was stated that it has happened to another game, though? not sure)

Yeah, yeah, I know. But the outcome is essentially the same. A playable version is now available on the net. I guess nothing can stop this from happening. There's always going to be leaks/thefts no matter what... As long as someone's determined enough.

It still sounds like good PR for Stalker to me... now, all we need is Far Cry to be leaked/stolen and we'll have a full collection of shitty versions of all the next-gen FPS's!

Then when you're done collecting your prize you'll let the person sleep and run away to go play the rest of Stalker while you much on frozen face skin... at least that's what that new screen of Stalker makes me feel like doing.

There's no fun if the person can't wake back up to see what you've done with them. How much better you've made them, how you have sacrificed your time and energy to turn them into better people. I prefer to start by cutting off their face after they've been asleep for an hour and I've had time to regulate the anaesthesia intake. For me it's the amount, not the potency.
