hi all you half life gamer

now listen very carefully here....im not getting smooth gameplay at all on this games.....now i have a dell pentium 4.....3.20 mgz computer woth 1024 megs amount of ram....i have a radeon 850 XL PE 256 video card....i know its a new video card but as to why its not smooth is beyond me....now when i installed it it recommended most of the graphics settings on high except the AA and AF which i turn on on the application meaning the game....now i dont know how many of u have that video card.....now i know its the fastest card out there except for the 512 cards....now i have a cordless mouse by logitech and cordless keyboard too from logitech....i disable my firewall and anti-virus program too....is it cuz of the video card here?....i mean like when i walk or move my mouse it just pauses for a few then its ok....when the game loads the quicksaves and stuff thats when its at its worst....thanks for listening to me....ive played painkiller and far cry too and they arent smooth too....i think its because i have a dell

Just because it's a dell shouldn't mean to much it gets right down to the specs.
Could you give us your actual framerates, if you have vsync on and what levels are AA and AF on.

Its probably something you've installed that made it not perform correctly, what things have you recently added to the pc?

smooth gameplay

well my minimum framerates start at 60....ive gone as high as 75.....the AA and AF are set on the next to the highest settings....i have v-synch on too

Maybe its because the dell config is too slow, try reinstalling with all the newest drivers and use as little software supplied from dell as possible. Well thats what I would do.

dell

sir i reinstalled my computer bout 5 or 6 months ago.....a few other people are having problems with the 850 card.....i think its dell because none of my games were smooth no matter what game i played.....i think its either dell or the video card...

Try turning v-sync off. That's usually the problem as its limiting you to 75 FPS

pentium 4 is your problem. Honestly, P4's suck. I've always gotten bad rates even with great cards. It limits you, if you get a amd all your problems will just go away. Intel and gaming don't mix in my book

yeah I have a p4 too, as of right now, it runs well, but not at full capacity

what does v-sync do anyways?

V-Sync synchorizes(sp) the refresh rate and your FPS, so it won't have a "tearing" effect at the top of your screen.

I've personally never seen a tearing effect, but that's what it is as far as I know.
