I'm sure it doesn't mean anything special... but in the trainstation video, where he gets into the security cage, I see on a wall a sign that says, "Nova Prospekt". I'm wondering why this is in russian, while "Security", the sign near it, is in english.

What do you guys think the Nova Prospekt means in game? Think its just one of those signs that don't mean anything special?

From German to english, that translates to "new facts folder." Is what I read from these other forums and this.."NOVA PROSPEKT" means a new perspective of seeing the world, with new expectatives and other things, after the domination of the combine. So I dont know what you could get with that.

its probably an area we either hear about or visit sometime during the game. i know its a vague answer, but we know nothing about it officially.

maybe its a destination, sounds like a place, or maybe they brainwash you!

Read what I wrote about it before it seems these people from another forum looked into it quite a bit.

Where at? I did a search on these forums about Nova Prospekt and it came up with absolutely nothing.

Its the second post. Oo I just uinderstood your post :p damn Im stupid ww.hl2fallout.com

well if youre interested about what nova prospekt is..
go down
nova prospekt is another area in the game, which contains the prison!

MOD EDIT: USE THE SPOILER TAG!!!

Heeeeeeereeeee we goooo agaaaaaain... (another nova prospekt thread.. sight..)

Anyway, the best guess so far is that it's the name of a location, freely translated it means "new future".

My feeling is that the use of the russian term "prospekt" is designed to give a feeling of location.
They could have used "plaza" , but then you would feel you are in Boston or Newyork.
Just an aspect of atmosphere ,imho.

with the leak and the script out, more people know spoilers than you'd imagine. Such topics would atract those people (including me :p)
Someone already said what it is.
It's not such a big deal I mean, it won't spoil anything of the game really, but it kills the discussion and the "hype" I guess.

1. "Nova Prospekt" isn't in Russian. The Cyrillic alphabet shares some characters with the English alphabet, but the sign would have (should have) appeared very different if Valve intended for it to be in Russian, Czech, or some similar European language.

2. This suggests to me that "Nova Prospekt" is a particular place, perhaps the destination of the train beyond that gate. Sounds rather ominous, don't you think?

This probably isn't relevant, but Nevsky Prospekt is the main street of St. Petersburg in Russia. So, New Street?

I have a russian guildmate who says Nova Prospekt is russian. At least the Prospekt word.

and there's a huge black thing behind the nova prospekt fence

Nova - sounds like more Latin \ Slavic lang. word.
I guess it means New (duuh!)

Prospekt - If they meant it to be in russian, then they would have written it in Russian.
Anyway, in Russian it means: avenue, boulevard (or prospectus, document or brochure providing a brief description of a project or enterprise; catalogue; circular - but I don't think they meant those).

i think it sounds cool, and it is a location. : /
