Amazon have the release date up as Nov 1st,
anyone else seen this date knocking about?
or have they picked it out of the air? :E

Nearly all retailers have set the date to the 1st of November. (5th of November for UK ones). But we'll see whether this turns out ot be accurate.

If VUG want's to make the hl2-community angry, and thereby loose a lot of money, they can keep it delayed for 6 months. I don't see it happening though. IMO a delay would kill the sales, at least for my part. I can live with a small delay, but if it's delayed until next year I'm gonna get pissed. (even more pissed)

I'm getting HL2 through steam anyway (If it's possible regarding the trial). I don't want to donate a single buck to VUG. Valve has made the game, they deserve all the money they can get.

Thank you VALVe !

VUG has the 1st november as ETA for a few days now i doubt it will change.

Novemember 1st would be ownage.

It'll be video game frenzy then though...San Andreas will be out too.

:O wait VUG themselves say it'l be nov 1st?! :O :O so doesn't that make it 100% official!?

lol no. its another attempt to shut us up about the release date. VU have the right to hold the game back for another 6 months. hope they do in the fact that valve needed a good kick up the arse...but then again i hope the nov 1st date is true, in the fact that all this ****ing b***s*** can be finished.

also VU would be stupid if they held the game back. sales wouldnt be as good next year. i would say christmas release as that will bring in the mpst profit quickly.

one of my fingers on each hand is pointed up at valve atm.

If its november then they might aswell release it just in time for X-mas, even by releasing it in November it will have lots of bugs.

What do you mean "it would have lots of bugs"?

I think he means VU should accept the release candidate no matter how buggy it is and release it on Nov 1st.

They aren't going to do that. That's what the Vivendi "6 month" quote means.

Yeah. And re-reading what BlackMesaDude said, I'm longer sure what he meant...

Nov 1st sounds grate

I think it won't come out until late Nov. But it dose not matter. We can all wait for it to come out. :borg:

Its another case of I'll believe it when I see it. Odds are VU is hoping to have it out by then (if not sooner) so they've given themselves another month, either so they can appeal if the lawsuit decision doesn't go their way, or in case they send RC1 back to Valve.

There's just been too many delays for me to take anything that comes from either Valve or VU seriously.

Exactly. I want this games as much as the next guy, but if Vivendi pushes it back (which I hope those bastards won't) I can live for a few months without it. So stop bitching as if you can do something about it and just wait in anticipation like the rest of us. The simple facts are that you are going to get the game, no matter when it comes out, and you are gonna have fun with it.

Omg its obviously coming September 30th 2003.
Wait huh? its 2004!
Omg..when did that happen?
Well ill go back in my coma till novemeber.
Cya.

personally i think i might boycot any VU products (except HL2) to come out in the near future,(tribes vengence isn't looking promicing anyway) as they are just about getting on there target audiences wick.
but of course they wouldn't care if everyone stopped buying VU anyway because they will be milking HL2 for years.

and for buying from steam, VU will probably get a share of the proceeds as it's probably writen into the contract.

i wonder has anyone organised a postal drop for VUG, or there parent company.

e.g. everyone sending VU's company directer a postcard with, RELEASE HalfLife2, writen in big letters on the back?

Don't take Gamespot's over blown analyse of the Vivendi quote as a reason to boycott Vivendi's products.

but it has the affect of punishing valve, and the consumer, us, that is.

That Vivendi are saying that Valve shouldn't announce release dates that Vivendi can't meet?

if vivendi can't meet release dates for the biggest game of recent history, they shouldn't publish.

tho they seem to meet release dates of there other more 'average' games.

me's a thinking feath must be on vivendi's payroll

I'm thinking that I've had it explained to me in a way that makes more sense than Gamespot's interpretation.

What Vivendi are saying is that "Valve shouldn't force us to commit to a release date that isn't possible, we have a window of 6 months to release it, not whatever Valve says."

It's as if I gave you a parcel to take to the moon and then declared that the parcel is going to be on the moon in 2 hours, you'll be quite angry that I was saying something that you couldn't possibly achieve and then making it look like it's your fault.

poor analogy, nobody lives on the moon (so far as i know), it should be the artic(though 6 months is still way overkill). anyway i think you miss my point.

the consumer wants vivendi to deliver, I WANT VIVENDI TO DELIVER.

after all it's the consumers money vivendi are after.

My Analogy was fine, the point was the moon is far away and it'll take more than two hours to get there.

Vivendi's point is that although Valve says September, they won't be able to deliver it in September and they mention the 6 months to say that they won't be in breech of contract if they don't conform to Valve's date.

actually Feath has a point. But how about we just wait for the game and shut up? :p

I bet it was a store in Iceland known as "Mark's Li'l Store"(translated, of course) that started this whole mess by putting up banners saying "HALF-LIFE 2! NOV. 1!".

Won't people realize that when a game has no release date and it posted on websites that it's coming out the first of the month it's really just a prediction saying that it's coming out that month. Like it should come out sometime in November.

Yeah, It would be nice.

I think that Vivendi has burners running 24hours a day right now. :naughty:
Even if it is the 1st thats only a month away.

God man, it's just ETA=Estimated Time of Arrival. You all are newbs. HL2Fallout is way better than this site.

First two posts and you've already started flaming, I guess it is like that over at HL2Fallout, eh?

:D

good luck avoiding all VU products...since they're one of the 6 biggest media companies in the world and all....should be easy
