Novint Falcon Design a Grip Contest!

Sweet!

Sweet. I cant wait.Any guess as to how long it will take for the results? I don't mean to impose but i just have the personality where i like to know.

Thanks for hosting a great competition for us all:thumbs:

I doubt it'll be today. Most likely during next week.

Also, since Novint are judging the entries you must appreciate they have a company to run as well (oh and that they go home to their families on the weekend).

The contest is now closed! Thank you for all your entries, which have been sent to Novint to be judged. The winners will be announced soon, along with a showcase of all the entries.

Any chance the entries could be put up earlier so we can compare each others?

6days latter still no replies?? how many entries were there?

Eheh, don't you GET IT?

They got your designs, all for free.

Q____Q

I originally thought the HL2net people were deciding winners in the first place...

I spent a long time on mine, at the very least I want to see the others cool designs.

How about: if you don't hear back from Novint in a day or two, just decide yourself?

Is your name supposed to be the way Stewie pronounced "whip" in family guy?

That wouldn't really work, would it? I don't have a supply of Falcons sat here, ready to go. We'll hear something very soon.

I just asked tom how it was coming on the novint forums and he said he should get to it this week.

I asked tom on the novint forums and he said hed have the descision by monday.

Ok guys, it's monday and we judged as promised. Very sorry for the delays - I and the rest of the Novint team have been absolutely swamped. Even today, I really had to make it a priority to get it done - I'm leaving on travel tomorrow, and it's always hectic, glenn, before travel (see what I did there lol), but had to stick to the deadline I self imposed.

The other reason for the delay, was that I could see people put a lot of work into it. I didn't want to have us do a half-arse job of judging when real effort was put into the contest, so I put some real time into evaluating it. I went through them thoroughly, and really spent some time analyzing how I wanted us to judge.

Here are the results! Thanks to halflife2.net for helping with this. Was a lot of fun, and I appreciated all the entries.

Time to post up our entries.

deathmaster, I really liked that you had added in the DDR mat as well - that was a unique, nice touch in your submission that I appreciated. Yours was very close to another honorable mention, so I would say you missed the honorable mention by a hair is all ;)

thx, tomnovint

I was a honorable mention :D

I wasn't sure if the novint falcon had the fidelity to pull off this usage. Tom, you mentioned this implementation was realistic though? The falcon is one impressive device!

I really liked yours a lot kgwhipp. It was very close to winning the whole thing. Your entry was what made us think the hardest on refining criteria in judging. thx, tomnovint

Thanks Deathmaster/Tom!

That close 'eh? Well, the contest did originally say two falcons! ;)

With the Falcon giveaways now over, we're happy to announce that Novint are providing two more Falcons for us to give away in this contest.
But yeah, the honorable mention discount makes buying one realllly appealing. I've been wanting a Falcon since you guys found us over at SourceForts.

I hate being a piss poor student...

I was a piss poor student not long back.

you should start a company around your grip idea, and become rich ;) It is a very real, very implementable and valuable idea in my opinion ;)

thx, tomnovint

Wow thanks a million tom and Novint. I can't wait for my falcon and to play on steam with everyone. Just curious do you need any info from me or do I just wait for the big box like the best christmas present ever.

hey gkaee, please coordinate with hectic glenn and pi mu rho ;) then we'll get you a Falcon. Congrats.

thx, tomnovint

Thanks for the quick response Tom i can't wait. Oh and Ill have to take you up on the offer of those ball grips now so i can make a few custom handles.

If the winners can PM me with their name/address/postal details, I'll pass them on to Novint in order for you to claim your prize.

And remember, if you didn't enter and are interested in buying a Falcon, you can use the Halflife2.net discount - just enter HL2NET as your discount code when buying. :)

To get the discount, you can send a message to Pi Mu Rho as he described a couple of posts back, and we'll get in touch with you.

thanks Pi Mu Rho ;)
