I want to see this evolve, I think it would awesome to be able to set up a game just about anywhere and it seems pretty straightforward too. It be cool to see that brainwave games be synced with this so that you don't have to wave your arms around but the game looks really fun to play. Loco Roco, Katamari, Mario, Little Big Planet, all these games would probably work with that functionality too. Heck even in the doctors office kids would like this

Remember all of those times where you were in the car and imagining a guy running at high speed, jumping obstacles... well. This.

Awesome :)

Imagine when it's 3d without the need for glasses. One step closer to having Mario in our living rooms!

You mean the "fake" 3D?

True 3D for me will be holographic projections.

Man, imagine that, a platformer played on some form of holographic device, so you can actually walk around your character etc.*Fantasizes*

That's what I meant - ever since playing Mario 64 for the first time i've wanted a little platform guy to jump around the living room. The possibilties are endless - little TF2 soldiers rocket jumping to get on the table .. rats maps brought to life. One day

dlc will be new sheets whit levels,20 dollars each

I don't see that as True 3D seeing as, at least if I read the wiki article correctly, you can't move to the side of the TV and see the person on it from the side.

What I view as true 3D is holographic projection, where I as a real person can freely move around the projection and be able to see what's being projected from different angles.

^ Sounds riveting. Walking around stuff: the game.

This is pretty amazing technology, but I'll wait to see how people apply it before I get excited.

I dunno but I'm not that impressed by this... it's very eyeytoy/kinect to me... except it's in reverse. The basic principle is that it's taking images of the surface and programming the sprite to react according to shape and color - just like the eyetoy/kinect is programmed to have sprites react to images of human shapes. Am I missing something impressive? The portability aspect? It's a miniprojector with a camera on top. I guess it's impressively innovative to combine those aspects... just nothing really groundbreaking in the aspect of technology.

No, you would be able to some extend, just like monitors nowadays have viewing angles. Seeing them literally come in front of the screen is silly.

That's not 3D, that's something different. 3D is just the illusion that you can see it. Having a literal 3D presence is different, I think.

I'm not really impressed either, augmented reality is far more interesting

Yeah I'm interested in augmented reality too.

Picture this: a paintball match in the woods, only instead of hunting eachother you hunt CGI dinosaurs!

A literal 3d presence is not 3d?

...

*facepalm*

The animation and collision detection are terrible!

3D is a virtual phenomenon (i.e. a brain trick), actual physical modelling would be something more like Star Trek's holodeck.

Yeah I'm way more interested in augmented reality. I'm looking forward to the day where I can put on my Interface Goggles and have real time data and overlays created for me. Then I can walk over to the arcade - a big open room - and have a virtual representation of weapons and armor and go head to head with a bunch of other people. They started doing some stuff like that with Iphones and all, though it's kind of weak. It's similar technology (dynamic imaging and processing) but I think it's a lot more impressive for a computer to LOOK at real and complex objects, identify them, and create real time overlays and such... this is just looking at black bars and a few colors with a boring little LED projector. I guess LED projectors are pretty fancy actually... considering the history of projectors and their crazy inefficiencies for the past like... 100 years or whatever.

**** interface goggles, I want interface lenses, so I don't have to wear cumbersome glasses.

They're already in development and called "Bionic contact lenses"

But they are also in very very early prototype stage.

Still pretty neato to think about what the future might hold.

They're annoying as hell. You get kids jumping up and down on the floor in front of the queues at the cinema while you're trying to find it.
