and actually, NPCs aren't just Alyx or Dr. Kleiner. They are any actor controlled by the computer, so zombies, combine, and anyone else could be considered an NPC. I don't know why in the HL2 community, NPC just means ally.

I was just giving him two examples. I know that NPC's are exactly what NPC stands for. Non Playable Character. Which, like you said, includes any character in the game that you aren't playing as.
