Nuclear Dawn, a much-talked-about postapocalyptic total conversion set for release near the end of this year, has some more media for us, as well as some more info on one of their developers, Henning "sa74n" Horstmann. The release gives us several more screenshots from sa74n's map nd_japan.[br]

This week we thought we'd give you the opportunity to get to know a bit more about the artist behind nd_japan while releasing some juicy media bits in the process, which also showcase the talents of Jonathan "patriot" Smårs, Andrew "Effekted" Hamilton, Philip "Blaz" Klevestav, Michael "Squirrely Jones" Voeller, Raúl "RCabrales" Cabrales and Anders "NoBody" Jenbo (yeah it's a long list for just one map).

The screenshots don't reveal anything we didn't already know about Nuclear Dawn, but they're further guarantees of the quality that the community has come to expect of their media. Here's to hoping the release will look and play as fantastic as it sounds! If you like what you see, head over to Nuclear Dawn's official website to check out their impressive media sections.

Best looking mod out there. Hope it plays good.

Heh, the screens look like something right out of FEAR.

Cool stuff :)

well i'm sure you won't be disappointed

what's with the tilted screen on every screenshot ?
is it supposed to scream "i'm moving left or right, head tilts too..."

I'm sure they rotated the screens a bit, 'cause they like doing that sort of stuff.

lol I didn't even notice that...

If it does tilt, it'll be a nice change from CS and DOD where everything's straight... In fact I think those clever turns of screens are what make them look so intriguing in comparison to other mods so I hope it is implemented

Looking good, but that's about the 5th time I've seen the poster of the kooky Geisha in one of their screen shots. Small a matter as it may be but a bit more diversity in terms of elements like that wouldn't go amiss in my view. Looking forward to this upon release though.

Edit: Samon, it makes no sense to photoshop something like that, probably just a movement glitch.

That was my first thought when I opened those screenies. Really nice looking game. Great detail. They appeared to have upped the antie for Source game graphics.

If we assume that constant and protracted conflict will continue with the imperialist forces, a gradual transition to the militia-type army will be possible only through a new organization of the replacement of casualties in the active forces.

While the screeshots look good, Dark Messiahs of Might and Magic has had Source looking better than Oblivion for sometime now, so really they "upped the antie".

Games are not mods.

I believe some people get confused at this stage.

I have never contributed to a Nuclear Dawn thread but this is the final straw
Ennui, Crispy, random ND plant - Put up or Shut up
This is getting ridiculous - either prove this mod is not just a massive publicity stunt and vaporware with real ingame footage especially if this mod is being alpaha-tested as is claimed
I truly believe this mod only exists in the minds of the team - either prove me wrong or never post another Nuclear Dawn 'media update' again
It's just a tad irritating to be lied to and mislead and treated as a fool

i was really hoping for a quick snippet of ingame footage.

But it does looks like they have all the player models compiled and ingame this time around.:cat:

Or have they? Tune in here for more!

I'm waiting for some evidence that a game exists as well.

To be perfectly honest, even if it does I aint gona download it. I don't appreciate the way things have turned out with this mod...

These screenshots do look very dodgy. And from all the rumors I've heard about ND hiring people to post positive stuff about the mod... This sounds like a microsoft product.

I won't belive anything before they release a video.

excuse me, buddy, but if you want to call me a random ND plant you better back that shit up right here and now. i may be a moderator on the ND forums, but that newspost is fairly objective, and all i'm doing is fufilling my capacity as a halflife2.net news poster when I post news about it. There is NOTHING in that post that you can logically or rationally question.

Judging the media and mod is your perogative, but I bring you promising-looking news, and if you don't like it, don't read the thread. It's not our responsibility to judge a mod team based on anything other than what they officially release.

My personal opinion does not factor into this at all, and I'd like it if you stopped being an asshat about it.

also Simonomis, :D lol

well if you want a semi-serious response *sighs
Isnt there a conflict of interest there somewhere and doesn't HL2.net have higher standards than most when it comes to news
TBH ennui it doesn't matter what you believe because Nuclear Dawn does not exist and every new faked screenshot just shows how pathetic the whole thing is

Stop the silly vaporware claims, ND has a real alpha going on. They're just worse quality than they're wanting to admit, so they embellish here and there. It helps them get better artists to complete the game, and helps them to keep their hyped-up community. A (very) low tactic for a hobby project, but whatever; it's public knowledge and they ain't going to change, so get over it.

Media looks good, but they keep releasing screens of the same stuff. Japan (or whatever) is a very nice map, but we've seen it already. Player models are very nice too, but you can only pimp them so much. Show us some new stuff? Some ingame vid action, sounds and all? Some progress ? [ E.g. I'm very curious about the animated models, I know what a bitch it is to do those decently ;)] Guess I'm just a bit sick of seeing the same models pimped again and again [especially since a lot of the content that makes your mod look good was made by people who left a long time ago; I'm a bit concerned there won't be any new content of the same quality]. All that makes me feel like you're posting newsposts just to keep ND in the spotlight once in a while, without them showing anything new.

Damnit, there I went again. Back to radio silence :)

whether or not it exists is the users opinion. due to the media, it certainly appears to exist, so we report news on it.

also, as a personal side note unrelated to news posting; i'm SO going to say i told you so.

no no NO! I think ti is you woh are confused. Games which DO NOT use proprietory engines essentially ARE mods. In the case of Dark Messiah, Arkane jusr have more talented artists and game designers, along with access to more of the client and engine code (they have the source to...source) and the coding tlaent to make use of it.

The difference between this "game" and a "mod" is that dark messiah is retail. But it is, and especially from an artists point of view, still a mod.

Mod is part a sub catagory of "game" where game is a casual leisure activity involving some sort of conflict and at least one victor.

IN terms of ND..i think it just looks like HL2, i want some bloody gameplay info tho. if its CS in the future ill be pissed off
