Nuclear Dawn Media Update

arguin on the internet is like having sex with your mother. Both are fun as hell, but you don't want your real life friends knowing you do it!

omg polyguns, i was just eating breakfast :p

on topic: nice post, impressive effects ND!

As far as I ever read, Crispy's posts on other boards (interlopers, ...) have always been quite polite

There is a difference between polite, and condescending PR nonsense wherein he trys to win you over with his wealth of do-dar knowledge.
The ND team may produce the media, but we've gone through so much photoshopped crap and witnessed an onslaught of cheap ditch attempts to boast the mods popularity at the hand of DaveL that I could careless whether they release or not.

but we've gone through so much photoshopped crap

One photoshopped hud and a few posed models? The team still had to MAKE the models and texture them. May sound a bit cliche but, cry more. Let's face it, you can make all the anti-ND comments you like, a lot of people will still enjoy it when it's released. I for one know it's damn fun to play.

I've said it before and i'll say it again.

I have heard too many bad things about DaveL to even consider supporting this mod. Crispy I have no specific grudge against at the moment. I just think hes a bit missguided.

Just my opinion. :)

:) :) :)

Huh? The game is still in regular playtesting, it's not out yet. The point is, I've played the game, and I know that the gameplay is there and exists.

Bada Bing !

(Okay, okay, we better stop that.)

Yawn at this thread; get over it.

As for the newspost though, nothing to see really? Yet some more screens of the same player 'props'; is that worth being a newspost over and over and over again? There was a time when your post had to have significant newsvalue to make hl2.net frontpage.

No, nothing to see at all, except for one of the first custom mods implementing the new phong shading. :upstare:

I'd count that as 'significant news value'++.

More like one of the first to show it, considering it takes just a matter of minutes to do this I dont think most mods in general feel the need to show look what we did posts since its really not all that hard to do.

As for the media it is nice, but nothing really I have not seen before but it still looks good

"Implementing" ? "Applying" would be a better choice of words, all it takes is a few lines in the .vmt. And they're by far not the first. I know they have better stuff to show than this, their policy of trying to get frontpages weekly with tidbits is just moronic. The team deserves more respect than what they are getting, but their idiot PR management just screws that up and doesn't realise it.

Agreed, but I think it's a style of bringing mod news out you have to choose. Frequent but not earth-shaking updates, or not so frequent, but very significant ones.

Sigh. If you people would just read the news post, you'd see that it's not only focusing on the implementation of phong lighting, but it also features how the ND team go about designing and creating assets for the game.
