Id like to welcome some new people to the staff of Nuclear Dreams. But before I start to make introductions I would like to give everyone some info and an update on plans.

If you havent followed this mod before, then you dont know that we had plans to make a "mini-mod" before undertaking full developement on the mod. Well that still holds true, and once the HL2 SDK finally arives, we will be starting on our so called "mini-mod". The point of this is to gain the proper knowledge and skills with the tools at hand, ie the SDK. To know what we are working with so that when we do start we have a full grasp of what power we hold. Now with that being said, I will introduce you to our newest members of the team.

First off we have endo, a cool guy that has modeled for many other games and well quite frankly is damn skilled. He will fill a position as a modeller/animator/texturer. He really knows his stuff, and were greatful to have him on the team. Thanx endo!

Our next new recruit would be boysix. Now, what sets him apart from most, is his education. The fact that he has a bachelors from an art school is one cool thing. He wants to help in every facet of the mod he can, so who could say no to that? Hes going to be helping with modelling/animation/concept art/and anything else he wants. :P Thank you boysix for wanting to help out.

The last "new" person on the team is Jacksnipe. Now he really cant to much now, but hes learning in college as we speak. I actually am attending college with him at ITT Tech in Spokane, Washington and he wanted to help in anyway he could. So for now he is going to moderate the forums and once he gains the acceptable skills he will be further helping us develope the mod. Lets all welcome Jacksnipe, a cool dude who will be known as my Assistant. :P

On another note. We are accepting beta testing applications. The real requirements would be a desire to help bug test, and willing to not divulge information. Other than that, we want you to have fun and enjoy a great game before it comes out. If you are interested, please email me at [email protected].

I read your site. I admire the size of your ambitions, but I think that the task you are setting yourself is more akin to a creating a game rather than a mod. Given the size of the terrain you mention, you would be hard pressed to be able to produce it using the source engine. You would need something similar to that used by SWG, but naturally this would compromise the sort of detail you could ultimately deliver. Also the bigger the map, the more you have to populate it, and that in itself offers up a host of problems (repetition being the principal one).

I think that the development of a mini mod is a good idea at this stage, to allow you to fully gauge the possibilities for making interesting and compelling environments.

Well I appreciate the response. And youre right it is more like a game than a mod. I guess thats the point. Everything in this will be doable, theres no doubt about that. There are other mods doing things that I personally wouldnt touch with out a multi-million dollar contract. ie: mmorpg system.

We are going to use a distributed map system that will dynamically load maps so it seems like its one large map. But the technology isnt really what I want people to enjoy. Ive put alot of creative effort and thought into the gameplay and story, the world and what makes everything tick. Blah, the mini-mod isnt to see if we will make the full mod. Its to prep everyone, and see if people will be able to last. As well as get a taste of HL2 sdk and everything. Create it once, throw it away, create it again, and it should be better.

Anyways peace.
