Hi guys! I'm from Argentina so excuse me if my english sucks

I'm having a problem with EP1. A few days ago, I bougth an nVidia GeForce 6200 with 256Mb RAM DDR1 (not TurboCache) just to replace my FX5200 that has full support for DX8 only (I know that it's a pretty old card for you but here it's very expensive to get something newer).

I was hoping to play EP1 with full HDR. In fact, i could select that option from the Advanced Settings but the Tone Mapping effect doesn't work! Blooming looks great but that's the only HDR effect that works fine.

The same thing also happens with Lost Coast. Did this happened to any of you? How did you solve it?? :flame: :flame:

Thanx a lot!!

P.S.: I have the latest drivers from nVidia so... that should not be the cause of my problem.

6200 does not support HDR. the 6200 was the first card i ever got and had played E1 one on it and did not even notice that HDR was missing untill i upgraded to a new card. im sorry to say it, but that card is pretty old and it will not support HDR.

omg really?? It has "PS3.0 Support" written on the package and EP1 enables you to select "Full HDR" option and it doesn't support it??? God i'm pissed!! :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame:

I tought all you needed to get the tonemap option running was a video card with full DX9 support. Well, that's bad news, but thanks for answering me. I'll try to upgrade it to a 6600... do you know if that card supports it??

the 6 series didnt do HDR right and it was the first card to introduce that technology. the 7 series nailed it though. also bloom is not a form of hdr at all; it is more of fake hdr.

Well, then you all have defective cards.

I own a PNY Geforce 6200 256Mb DDR agp 8X and i run HDR on full.

So yeah, jpventso , it works. Just depends on the model card and who made it.

Also, I havea 6800 and it ran HDR on Full. So....the 6 series works fine.

My 5500 can even do it...

uh... there is no way in hell a 5500 could run HRD!? how in gods name did you do that!?

Well, you put a powerfull pc behind it, use Riva Tuner to outlook your card. Then use, Interject 5 to open al your pipellines. Then you cheat the game to allow you to pump the game into DX9.

Which really ****s with the card, btw.

Then you play, you need to overclock your core or else it will crap out.

Once again, its a PNY Geforce 5500 AGP 8x support with 128mb of DDR ram. and its the model with the fan and the HUGE heatsink.

Once again, sorry about my english. I researched a bit more about this issue, and I found this at Wiki:

"As a side note, when referred to as Shader Model 3.0 HDR, HDRR is really done by FP16 blending. FP16 blending is not part of Shader Model 3.0, but is supported mostly by cards also capable of Shader Model 3.0 (exceptions include the GeForce 6200 series)."

Estrides, I don't know about your 6200 and if it really supports it, but the article above tells the exactly issue I'm experiencing. Does your EP1 perform tone mapping? Once again, the Advanced Config shows me all options (including full HDR) and i can see the bloom effects and the HDR applied in textures (sunlight projection, etc.). Only the tone mapping is missing!:angry:

I'll probably change my card for a 6600... I really don't know what to do right now. And it's really a lot of money in this country.

Anyway, thanks to you all for your answers... And I'll be still looking forward to EP2 :D:D:D

[EDIT] Asus, you answered while i was writing . That was EXACTLY what I've just found out. "But the 6200 doesn't support FP16 blending.":thumbs: You had the exact answer that i was looking for.

"Try a 6600." I will, thanks a lot!

Well... I finally changed my 6200 for a 6800XT and now I can play with full HDR at 1280x1024 with 2x antialiasing so... It's a big difference.

Thank you all for ur answers and all I have to do now is wait for EP2... See ya!!
