Which is better? Im confused. The 6600 costs less and only has a 128 bit memory interface. Which is better?

Don't know about the specs but I reckon the 6600 is PCI-E only!

the 6600 dominates the 9800 pro. just look HERE and go through some of the tests they did. I know the 6600 is only PCI-e right now, but the AGP is supposed to come out faily soon (1 month?). This is definately the card I'm buying to replace my radeon 8500, lol. So go and buy the 6600 when the AGP comes out.

omg here we go again. look:

the 9800pro is more than capable of handling games now and for the next 3-4 years. it doesnt break the bank (you can get one for £120 ffs), and only needs extra cooling. its Ati aswell, which is a big plus.

now, the 6600 is from Nvidia...so that kind of casts a shadow over it. it costs a fortune and doesnt perform aswell as the ati cards of the same class, so thats a big blow. generally its upto you to decide.

9800pro - affordable, reliable, future proof.

6600 - bankbuster, good performance, very dodgy as it comes from Nvidia and they just have a bed reputation for dx9 games.

Pureball look at digitalfires link... Furthermore Kristafon stated the 6600 costs less, so whats the with the bankbuster comment?

I believe the AGP version of the 6600 will be out in October, and yes, I'd definitely choose the 6600 over the 9800 pro. The 6600 basically has everything the 6800s have.

EDIT:

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! PureBall is a high-threat to unbiased suggestions and comments. Beware.

oh bollocks....ahahaha i didnt read that link and i got the cards mixed up anyway

ahahahahahaha

lol ty champ. anyway, for some reason, i thought the 6600 was the best/latest nvida card lol.

omg pureball, dont give advice on something you know nothing about!

Yes the 6600GT beats the 9800 pro and is the same price, $200 and the AGP version should be out within the next month. I would get it.

Set it to Doom 3.

Nice to see that the new mid-rangers are going to perform slightly better than last years high-ends.

I would still wait for the X700's before making up my mind.

You have a biased view of nvidia.

FX series = chimpanzee wank juice in a tupperware tub. The GeForce 6 series however is far superior and can do DX9 effects with aplomb. From what i can see nearly all of nvidia's current crop of cards wipe the floor with thier ATI counterparts from a similar price range. The only area where ATI dominates this round is in the very high end market as the X800XT platinum is by far the fastest card on the market.

p.s. im not an nvidiot fanboy. I have an X800XT PE on order.
