Do you have an AGP slot? And radeon is better for HL2 and CS:S.

Well for the video card, don't get a Geforce FX 5200, they're bad cards. I don't know how much you have to spend, but a 9800 pro would be awesome, it'll run HL2 and CS:S at max settings. You can get them for $195 on newegg.com, if you can't afford that try a 9600xt, they're like $130 or so. Just don't get a 9200 or 9600se or lower.

The min. you would want to spend for a good card would be 120$ or so for a 9600 base model, pro or XT.
You want to stay away from the 5200, 9200 or any SE's and LE's.
Generally the FX series is not worth it when you have the option of the 9600 and 9800 series from ATI, as they are clearly better in the newer games.

"Nvidia or Radeon?" is like saying "Burger King or Big Mac?"
Nvidia vs ATI, or GeForce vs Radeon. :p

This is the second thread you've made saying that and I just had to point it out. ;)

I'd get a radeon x800 pro if you have the money, if not i'd get a 9800 pro 256 mb and oc it. Make sure that if you buy the 9800 pro and wanna overclock, that you get one that overclocks well.

Really? Because when I bought mine I tried to buy the worst card for overclocking.

Anyway, it's Nvidia vs. ATI, or GeForce vs. Radeon.

Stay away from the GeForce FX line. If you have the money, get something like a 9800 pro, or, if you have the money, get a 6800-GT or x800 pro.
