I'm planning on gettin an ATI Radeon 9800 in a couple weeks and I just have a little question. Right now I have a nVidia Geforce2 MX and I was wondering do I just uninstall the display drivers then shut down and put the ATI card in and then start up and install everything or should I wait and have the ATI card in then try and uninstall nVidia? Are there big problems with switching from nVidia to ATI?

Reformat. That's the easiest way. Or use a third party program called detonator destroyer or something, I cant remember. Its very important you get everything Nvidia related deleted.

Edit: you uninstall before you put in the new card, though it will work after too, its just gonna be screwed :)

i am with the above guy....full reinstall, or at the very least, run Driver Cleaner
before you do anything. make sure all remnants of nvdia are outta there...gl

I got way too much stuff on my computer that I want to keep. I don't want to reformat it. Is this driver cleaner official? It won't mess up anything right?

You should not have to reformat.. Probably just have to get all the nvidia crap out of the registry which the uninstall program doesn't remove. Anyway, this is probably a question you should be asking nvidia.. You should mail them and ask how to completely remove their drivers.
