Nvidia vs ATI

Im debating which card I should buy.
Currently I am looking at the X850 and the GT 6800.

Which would be more suitable for playing Source with HDR and FEAR?

6800gt would've been my pick a couple months ago, but since then the x850xt has dropped in price- id go for that.
Depends whether you've got AGP or PCI-e as to whether you wait for the cheaper 7800.

Nvidia i would go with. I heard they can handle more.

Either will be great. The 6800GT will do Doom3 and FEAR better. The X850XT will do HL2, BF2 and Farcry better.

What resolution are you going to be running the games in? What size of monitor do you have? What games are you going to be playing most?
The X850XT is the fastest AGP card you can buy and if you like high resolutions or AA/AF features then it will do those in most games best.

Although the 6800GT can do HDR in Farcry (bit hit in performance) while the ATI cannot.
Both can do HDR in Valve's upcoming Lost Coast.

ATI cards run alot better on the source engine, Nvidia cards run better on games like Doom (when theres heavy emphasis on shadows), also im pretty sure the x850 beats the 6800 in almost all benchmarks

I'd rather get the gtx, it's 489 dollars.
