What do you think about Nvidia's new Head-Demo - Environment, lights, textures, music and of course, the head ?

When you see it you'll shit me.

yep

aint it great?

I was waiting for him to open his eyes. looks great!

That's no way to get ahead in life.

Or are those just allowed in decapitation threads?

OH, thats William Dafoe...

baaaaaaaha

its Doug Jones btw

Didn't make my H.W.

well...

"Special thanks to actor Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer) for allowing us to use his likeness to deliver the next level in realistic real-time characters."

It's life-like! What's next now that photorealism has been reached?

That's it? He just stays there? He should at least say something.

Real skin is a little bit translucent so you can see the red "glow" of blood underneath and veins and stuff. This is very good, but still you can tell that it is a 3d model from a single image. It has that plasticky look that 3d models always seem to have.

Pobz you can't see the amount of detail on a shitty compressed youtube video.

Doesn't look that great. The skin looks too shiny and the lips seem to be part of the same shader as the rest of the skin.

Man, thats cool. I cant wait till games can produce that amount of detail in real time.

I wasn't knocking the quality, i've seen the screenshots and it does look unbelievable ... I just think it's disappointing that it's so static. If that had human motion, it'd probably leap over uncanny valley.

I'm craving for that head to suddenly snap its fingers and go "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyy"

if want to see a face I'll go look in the mirror...

because my mirror has an 8800gtx in it.

Must be a pretty expensive mirror then.

The tech is impressive, but I tend to find these singular demo things rather contrived. The important question is exactly how demanding in terms of card rendering is it to show these sorts of things. If the most a high end PC can handle is to render out one or two people in a game environment operating at this kind of level of detail what options does that realistically offer in terms of future gameplay scenarios? More post apoc/wasteland/worn torn environments with sporadic and scattered AI encounters....I'd rather have lesser graphics games with Towns and Cities bustling with AI characters (and no Oblivion was far from bustling..) and richer game play opportunities tbh.

its a head, it doesn't have fingers...

:D LOL this should be quote as the best joke of the day.

this fall Nvidia is releasing G92 will be a 1 Teraflop beast this fall or early next year. which is 3 times faster than 8800GTX. google it for more info.

I believe it was pretty demanding as my card got to 80 degrees celsius.

Forget the head, it's the photo-realistic boobies I wanna see...

Bleh forget it, I'll just go on the net.

Evwen a card 3 times faster isn't going to deliver the sort of game play scenarios I'm taking about though at that LoD....
