O.T. - Great time waster... Floyd fans, upgraders please read

Anything to waste time until the 30th...

I needed to take a break after staying up until after 2 am last night in the pursuit of a low steam id, and realized: I just spent an irresponsible amount of money upgrading my computer, 3 GHz, Z-680's, the works...

I popped in Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, started it in Media Player 9, and turned on the "Alchemy... Random" visualization. Full screen, of course. Also had the "Panorama" setting under the "Pro Logic 2 Music" effect on with the speakers. It was a nice little trip. Of course this is after partaking in some of my, uhm, initials.

The only thing I haven't upgraded yet is the vid card. I'll be getting a 9800/256 next week, probably.

I don't even want to let RealPlayer get anywhere near my machine, but I remember it having a very nice space-themed visualization, back around version 8. Much sharper than MP's, I think. But this was very nice. Now if we could just get Cthulu...

And i thinkyou bought into the hype to much bout your comp absoloutly having to be top of the line for HL2 to look good. just MHO

as for realplayer....why use it when you can use winamp with some visualizations you can download from winamp.com....looks damn sweet to me :D
 
I knew it didn't have to be. I've been into computers for 20 years, and I've always been "responisble" in the past. After I got caught up, I just couldn't help it. I'd been saving for a while, and hell, I'm still quite flush. This has been a rare treat for me...

ok, i get it. Even though it has nothing to do with this thread. Jeesh, ya try and be humble and plainly state O.T. in the title, and get harassed. Shame on your intolerance...

Shame on them! BTW, strangely enough Primus got together and are playing in Portland, ME, like right next to where I live! WOOHOO!

I'm not being intolerant or harassing you.

Why are you so against the Off-Topic forum? It's a nice forum, I don't understand why people try to avoid it. It's a good thread, it would fit nicely there.

why don't you kill the time time before the 30th playing something else. Give something a try. 'Chaser' is a pretty solid FPS, takes a while to get going but is still pretty damn good. Demo is shit by the way don't let that put you off. Nice engine and bloody long. That should help you through to the end of the month.
