Obama Aunt Illegal Immigrant in US, Contributes Money to Campaign Illegally

Yes, ban people who's opinions you disagree with

This is the whole point of being a moderator.

Ever think of the donor's privacy? They have a right to be anonymous and not say who they're supporting, same as we do in that we dont have to proclaim publicly who we are voting for. The laws and rules for allowing you to not give out this information are there for a reason. And that reason is privacy. No matter how much you want this information, you have no right to demand it of him. And judging him for it is extremely poor form.

It will be pretty ****ed up if someone finds out a republican donates to the democrats.

It was a joke.

Pretty ****ed up for that guy. It could ruin him if he were found out, and he would have done nothing wrong.

Well then I guess campaign contribution rules dont matter for shit then. :|

I guarantee you that far more than just $260 dollars has been contributed illegally in one way or another. You simply can't perfectly track every donation to a campaign.

Edit: lol at bbson john.

They are not required to report donations under $200.

As important as transparency is to the election process, an unintended consequence of this transparency is that some potential donors feel that publication of their donation could have a negative effect on the donor, particularly with respect to their employment.

A donor's name, address, and place of employment is considered public information and donor lists are widely available on the internet.

Some potential donors have chosen not to make a donation out of fear their employer may find out about the donation and either withhold a raise, promotion, or outright fire the person. Fear of this kind of retaliation effectively shuts many out of making financial contributions to support a candidate.

Campaigns are not legally required to report donations totaling under $200 but may do so; some have proposed that the limit should be raised to $500 or $1000 and that campaigns would not report donations from an individual until the total exceeds the established limit during an election cycle.

You're making way, way too many threads Rakurai.

I wonder if you could just distribute a million bucks around a bunch of political activists, and they'd all donate their $199 to the candidate.

What I'm curious is, why wouldn't someone report their donation?

I guess so. I agree that what you said earlier about the whole thing being corrupt.

You can lose your job, be denied promotions.

You can piss off friends and family who have opposing political views - basically, you can be a target. People might shoot up your house with a pellet gun. :p

For example, in my own family, there many that I wouldn't mention who I'm voting for. It would not go over well.

Famous people are particularly at risk - though, they are more likely to make larger contributions, so I guess that comes with the territory.

I never said they were, the issue is why ISNT he of his own volition.

See the following posts you that you fail to acknowledge:

Then you failed to check the link I posted around the middle of the first page. There IS a controversy about a lot of the donations to him that are under $200. People are putting fraudulent information in information fields or are donating from foreign countries.

Cause they don't want another Bush influencing the planet.

I don't care what foreign countries think about our elections, it's illegal for them to finance a campaign here.

Whether you like it or not. The policies of the US has a dramatic effect in other parts of the world. Not that they should be donating to political campaigns.

Okay? So do elections in nations all over the planet. They still don't have a say vote wise or financially in our election.

Thats it, I'm voting for Brian Moore. Socialism will lead the way!

If Obama wasn't running, I might vote for Jon Stewart, if he got serious, and ran a serious campaign.

Seriously.

BTW, Obama seems like he could turn to acting if he wanted.

Speaking of presidential actors, I just noticed Ronald Regan endorsed Obama. I was kinda surprised that Regan would endorse him, to be honest, because I thought Ronald Regan died like 10 years ago.

**** you man. Definitely Colbert.

Colbert would make a zany VP.

That's the first time I ever used that word BTW.

I think I nailed it:

1 : a subordinate clown or acrobat in old comedies who mimics ludicrously the tricks of the principal

Well if it were a Chenney:Bush situation, it would probably be acceptable.

He's not dead?

Obama is a secret time-traveling nazi zombie muslim?

Dude what the **** are you talking about?

Us: "Do you want to hear some facts about Obama?"
Them: "No, just let us go vote for him."

But seriously, got a call asking for a family member of mine to ask some questions...had to repeatedly tell them that she was not voting...they were asking for my dog...I think my dog might be a registered Democrat! :(
