Obligatory "I Love vALVE" Thread

I feel the need to say this, so Ill go ahead with it. Where have all the critics (well, the majority) gone now that CS:S has finally arrived, with HL2 well on its way? Do some of us, me inculded, owe vALVE an apology, with all the reviews pointing to an all-time classic coming with HL2? The wait will be, and has been, worth it. I hope now that everyone's happy now that things are finally about to come to a close, so I feel that we should all give vALVE one great big hug! :imu: Thanks for all the hard work! I hope now that everyone's happy now that things are finally about to come to a close, so I feel that we should all give vALVE one great big hug!

I'm not that impressed by CS:S and I'm none to happy about not being able to play it now just because I want a hard copy of HL2. So yes I'll support Valve and buy the game, but no hug at this time, sorry.

It is beyond me why anyone should ever be expected to apologise for using the capability of the human brain for critical analysis and discussion.

With the risk of turning this into some devil's adovacte political debate, are you saying that you should never apologise for saying something inappropriate or doing something inappropriate, and that you should never need to change their mind? Some might say that George W Bush should apologise for saying that Saddam Hussein has, or is developing, nuculear, chemical or biological weapons of mass destruction, or at least correct himself and admit he was mistaken. I'm just saying that in hindsight, our observations, critical analysis and discussion can be perceived as illogical and non-sensical. But whatever. Some people don't agree with me, so fair enough.

I didn't argue that one shouldn't apologise for stupidity, lies, deception and the like, but having a critical (not the same as pessimistic or negative) mind is to be supported.

Even if HL2 turns out as good as the hype reviews claim it is, this doesn't change the principle nor the mistakes Valve have made in the last 17 months.
