A theif/sneak thing. Love sneaking round people stealing all their expensive shit to keep for myself/sell :D

Mage/sneak of course! Nothings better than putting your enemies to sleep then running like hell as you turn 100% chemeleon and spray them with hundreds of fireballs D:

All while in sneak mode of course, to pick pocket them witch goblins.

Thief sneak/Archer with restoration as a minor, and usually owning a few destruct spells too.. Except It's really lame in Oblivion without mods. And I'm still waiting for a mod which makes all shop owners actually keep stock, instead of it being in a barrel below the map, out of reach.

Mage/Sneak.

Magic for if you get in too bad trouble and super-archery for head-shotting noobs.

Mage, combat skills are for an added backup. New shivering isles character.

I made a save game for the each of the three main class types; Sneak, Warrior and Magic.

The specific classes were Assassin, Mage and Knight.

I always played as a warrior Breton with lots of magic skills, and warrior attributes. Pretty much unstoppable.

If you have the patience Alchemy is probably the most powerful crap in the game.

I only used alchemy for profit really. Just at the beginning in the Imperial city you can up the skill above your major ones before setting out to wherever.

Aye well we all have our preffered styles of play and mine just happens to be throwing fireballs around and exploiting NPCS via calm/command and other hacky spells.

KYO! YOU'RE STILL ALIVE!

I do try to rise from the grave every few months.

All...that is when I play, which is when I am incredibly bored or driven more insane.

Sneak/Archer with Destruction for when they get too close. And Restoration for *gasp* healing.

I like to sneak behind the guys and slice em up.

*Sneak up behind and take items*
"WHAT? WHO'S THERE?!"
*stab in chest with sword.*

I'm an Archer/Mage with a hell of a lot of armoring skill. Basically I just pierce everything with my magic bow, steal their soul, and constantly recharge the bow. And I can keep all my stuff in tip top shape without having to go into town.

Redguard fighter/sneak type. I enjoyed the sneak side of things more, had a khajiit straight thief type before that but kept getting stomped in combat after levelling so much on just sneaking/stealing =/

Depends. My most successful character would have to be Bosmer thief/archer, cause of their skill boost in that area. Also, the Command Creature power is useful for a bit IMO.

.

You like exploits? Make a custom spell that casts silence and drains 100 pts of speed (maybe something close to it would work if you can't do 100 pts.) They won't be able to do anything for the duration of time of the spell (you decide)

I'm not sure why, but they just can't move, can't attack, and being silenced, they can't cast any magic either. Now, if this spell combination used allot of magic, then it wouldn't be such an exploit (i guess), but it doesn't. You can have it last 20 or 30 seconds or more, and just hack the shit out of them. It doesn't cost hardly any mana. I got to warn you though, it's boring, so I don't use it. I'd rather they fight back, or I feel like I'm cheating.

Another gay part is the fact that I'm invincible. I'm a Breton, so I have 50% magic resistance(racial), and I found a 'mundane ring", a ring that is 50% magic resistance and 35% spell reflect or something. So I'm immune to any kind of magic, paralyze - hell, even the fireball launchers in the planes of oblivion is classified as magic.

If this doesn't make the game easy enough, I also have something like 135% damage reflect, with my equipment: Raiment of the Crimson Scar, Necklace of swords, and Chorrol Shield of Echelon(or w/e),so I'm immune to any kind of physical attack as well, not to mention when I am attacked, it hurts the attacker, not me.

To make things more lame and unchallenging, my equipment can't be damaged, since I'm not being hurt. Therefore, facing any enemy, I can just stand there, and they will die just from attacking me. I never have to heal, I never have to repair, I never have to attack. (although I do)

The only way I can be hurt is from a huge fall, lava, drowning, or by repeatedly attacking an NPC that has reflect damage and not healing myself. (there is only one creature that I know of that it hurts me to attack. )

Sometimes, I just run around with regular clothes or something, just so I can be hurt.

The game is broken. You should never be able to be invincible unless you are cheating purposefully. But this is a legitimate character, I've never cheated in any way at all. I could remove the gear that makes me so powerful, but isn't that kind of gay, to not wear your best gear? To throw away your precious rares so you won't be god? I found them (my precious...)

Bethesda just kind of messed up some design decisions, but I still love the game. I'll change some things in some mods as time allows.

I don't feel like finding a proper Oblivion thread to post this in so...

I just bought the game finally, installed fine.
Starts up fine.

Then I start a new game and the screen is black, it's like there is no light in the game whatsoever.
I can see the HUD and stuff and move around... but it's all black.

I have a 7600 GSOC BFG with 2gb of ram.

edit : This happens whenever I have bloom or HDR on... if both are off the screen is just white as hell.

That sounds like what happens if your card isn't supported. You will have to use oldblivion

Personally, I found that to be very interesting. I can certainly see how it could be extremely boring for you with all those stacking buffs, but I cant help but think how useful it is to be invulnerable to magic while crusading throughout the Planes of Oblivion. All of those fireball chucking imps drive me nuts!

Might I ask how you came across such artifacts? Random loot, or quest related?

Won't that make it look like ass?
no, not in istelf no. Making it look like ass is your job. Reducing graphic quality so you can play it. I don't know much about Nvidia, but isn't that a pretty decent card? It didn't run well on my old card. I used to have a 9250 and that card is better designed for games that ran on a pentium 3.

Oldblivion is fantastic. Look it up. You might not even know you are using it. It just supplies compatible shaders, and it just patches the game in places where it would have crashed had you not been using it.

LOCATION OF ITEMS - MAY BE CONSIDERED SPOILERS

[you were warned.]

I came across them from different means. Mundane Ring was dropped by one of the main quest badguys. There were like 3 (crimson robed whatever they are called) in a room. The 2nd in command bad guy droped Ring of Wizardry, which is also a very powerful ring.

I got the ring of perfection twice from deadric wizards (the deadric guys in robes). (once on each of my main characters.)

I was like level 22. I always start a new character with as much luck as possible, since that stat is the hardest to raise, and so far, with all of my characters, I've been lucky... go figure.

Necklace of Swords: I stole this from the Lady of Chorrol's room. Then I fenced it and bought it back since I'm filthy rich. This gets rid of the 'stolen label' of course.

The Chorrol shield of Esceton or whataver it's called was a quest reward.

The Raiment of the crimson scar was in a dresser drawer in the Vile Lair (expansion)

The Turnblade hood (which I forgot to mention) can be aquired from the boss of the Menrunes Razor quest (expansion)

For more info on these items, like stats, you could stick them in the google browser.

Yeah, it's a great card.

And I guess I'll Oldblivion a go... it worked well enough with my FX5200.

edit : Gah, as soon as I run the oldblivion.exe, the DOS box pops up, everything goes fine... and then it just says Oblivion's performed an illegal operation etc etc. :|

edit : Well, for some reason the game's just fine now.
Need to get mods!

Suggestions for good UI mods?... I don't like how small the map is... or how small everything is actually.

That card should work, my Oblivion worked fine on my old 7600 gs (upgraded to a 7900 gs).

Do you have the latest drivers (latest supported Forceware is 93.71)? And did you try the latest Oblivion patch (1.2)?

Works fine now... except for my computer restarting after I exit the game each time. :|

Thanks VirusType2. Now I can go through Oblivion without constantly being fireball spammed!

Quick question about mods.

There was a site I came across, sort of a blog-style site, that was dedicated to listing all the mods and community updates that made Oblivion look better and behave more realistically. Updated models, normal maps, textures, weapons, etc. I've been looking for it, because I forgot to save it to my favorites after downloading a texture pack (Qarl's somethin or other, ~1.8GB), a normal map pack by the same guy, and a mod to give the game tons more weather types and more realistic trees and stuff.

If it helps, the site seems to use a very old-fashioned-style font, where some characters (predominantly numbers) are offset downwards by a few pixels.

I can't help you find that site, but I have something very cool here.

Is there a mod out there that edits the looks of NPCs?

Female NPCs are scary to look at. :(

You already know how to use the face gen. You used it when you created your character(s).

Using the Construction Set, you can change the faces how you want them to look just like that. It's really not hard, u just have to be guided by someone helpful (me). Just PM me if you need a quick start to get you changing their faces without reading and searching through pages of shit.

It was actually one of my first mod ideas. But when I saw these people, these are old ladies and stuff. Their faces have character. They are part of the story.

... plus it's allot of work.

it's been done. See if you can find the link in Buddas list.
