wow didnt realise there's so many oblivion mods released so soon after the game was released

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.List

from the cool to the silly there's already a few interesting ones like:

"This mod allows the player to hire mercenary companions to aid [you]."

"This is a simple color mod that changes the mane and tail colors of the White Horse to Black"

quest mods should be coming out soon ..the modding community will be huge

I am using the realistic weapons and armor beta mod, has improved the game a lot imo.

Edit: Post no 1000, yay :)

It currently reduces the difference between weapons (now deadric weapons does 25% more damage then steel weapons, not 100% as they did before). It also increases the damage of all weapons as well, making combat shorter and grittier and makes it feel more realistic (now you can actually kill people with a ranged sneak attack). This version does not change armor in any way though.

Here is the thread for the mod: http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=257679

Edit: Hmm they seem to have gotten closer to their goal by making fantastic weapons rarer with a rescently released (seperate) mod.

thanks it does sound interesting

here's a few more mods from shacknews:

Auryn's Leveling Mod: Helps manage and direct your stat development.

"Leveling and attribute advancement are completely automatic in this mod, every time you raise a major skill by 1, you raise the associated attribute by .5. Every time you raise a minor skill, you raise the associated attribute by .25. Also added are birthsigns, race bonuses, and chosen attibute bonuses into the equation."

Care to explain how these affect the main game itself? Can you play with the mod, then turn it off and back to normal from where you were?

OK, got it now. Great mod. They made it look less console-ish.
Map
Inventory
Quest log

I downloaded it from this link. Scroll down and you'll find the download for the auto-installer. Un-rar it and presto.
good screens dude, i was wondering what it looked like, much better, the map reminds me of the Silent hunter 3 map for some reason:rolling:

i'll get my coat.

How is it different? i dont understand, please explain

The menus use a smaller font, so when you look at your inventory for example you can see a lot more items on one page. Also the map is a lot bigger. On the screenshot you can see both Chorrol and Cheydinhal. That's not possible on the default map.

Jawohl kaleun

hehehe, set out an intercept course to the nearest Oblivion gate.

You guys should get the gold texture redo mod. It turns the gold textures from shitty, to masterful, that looks like the actual coin they give you in the collectors edition.

now all we need is REAL glass armor
and HIT detection

aka headshots do more damage than say a shot to the toe ;/
especially since most everything I kill has about 6 arrows in each eye when Im done.

Download it! It's a must-have for ALL PC gamers!

I think I am the only one on the planet not bothered at all by the ui. I hardly carry anything not equipped though. As soon as I pick up anything I don't need at that moment I either drop it, sell it, or put it in storage. Its rare that I have more than 15 items in my inventory.

How do you sell it or put it in storage when you're deep in a dungeon?

It's got to the point for me now, if I get over weight, I drop items worth 500-1000g a piece. Sooo much cool stuff in dungeons now.

I'm using the water mod and UI mod at the moment, the water looks more like farcry's now, less fog and more reflections.

Visual mods are fine with me.

I won't use any mods changing the gameplay (prices, AI, stat system etc.) however, at least for now. I'd rather play the game and finish it the way it was intended by it's developers.

I installed THIS plugin and it works great, looks super good and no FPS drop what so ever!

It replaces the textures to high-res ones.

Absolutely the best visual fix for OB, makes such a difference to how the landscape looks.

I don't pick up to much in dungeons. Maybe a couple weapons or peices of armor. I go straight to the market or my house as soon as I am done.

I found that earlier today as well. It is a great mod. It looks so much better in the distance. Only problem is I get a noticable increase in load times, I guess its worth it though. Little to no preformance drop as well.

very nice, the game needed this badly tbh, looks more natural now and i dont notice a performance hit either.

Here is the list of mods I downloaded for Oblivion:

-ANB Health Regen
-Attack & Hide
-Color map
-Durable Equipment & Harder repairs
-Kobu's Character Advancement System
-LandscapeLOD
-Movable Bodies
-Natural Faces
-No Psychic Guards
-BTmod 2.20

brief description if it's not too much to ask, please

Sure, by the way they can all be downloaded over at www.tessource.net/files.

-ANB Health Regen: allows your health to regenerate when you're out of combat, the less health you have the slower it regenerates.

-Attack & Hide: this mod comes with varying levels of difficulty, it lets you carry out sneak attacks without engaging the enemy, meaning you can shoot an arrow then run and hide somewhere else while the target investigates where the shot came from. Enemies no longer home in on you after a stealth attack, they come looking for you but don't always find you if you're well hidden

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=336063&hl=

-Color map: pretty simple mod, it just adds color to the map, mountain areas are gray and white, plains and grass fields are green, etc...

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=336789

-Durable Equipment & Harder repairs: this mod is available in different ratios, you can make your equipment last as much as twenty times longer than normal, but to compensate, repairing will have to be ten times harder. Although you can choose the ratio, you can have the 20xdurable equipment and 2xHarder Repairs.

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=329396&hl=durable+equipment

-Kobu's Character Advancement System: this is one of the many leveling mods available, it automatically assigns attribute points when leveling up and removes the hassle of working on minor skills to get the bonus modifiers. You can find a more in-depth explaination here:

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=335082&hl=Kobu's

-LandscapeLOD: great aesthetic mod that replaces distant textures with 2048*2048 textures at no cost of framerate.

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=328524

-Movable Bodies: lets you move bodies, though I haven't figured out how yet. [edit] found the thread:

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=313707&hl=moveable+bodies

-Natural Faces: lots of technical mumbo jumbo I didn't quite understand but gives better results when creating new faces. Here is a screenshot comparing default and modded faces: http://www.raspberryhell.com/Oblivion/MD_Natural_Faces.jpg

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=328830&hl=natural

-No Psychic Guards: this mod removes the guards' psychic ability to detect a crime over great distances, guards will only intervene if they're within a certain radius of the crime (within hearshot or line of sight); also comes with varying levels of difficulty.

http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=335762&hl=

-BTmod 2.20: adds user interface improvements, making the character, equipment, quest, and map windows a lot bigger, while reducing font and icon size.

Why the hell do you need this mod? You can move bodies already by picking them up and dragging with Z. :|

It just makes it easier, lighter corpses etc.

Thx Gunner, a few questions:

how well does the attack and hide mod work? I dont want to feel like I'm cheating but I'd love to be able to snpe from the shadows without the enemy homing in on me after one shot

LandscapeLOD looks good, does it work only if you have distant landscapes enabled?

also does the BTmod take away the quest markers? most people hate them but they're very useful imho

thanks again for the links

Pfft. If your strength is high enough there isn't anything difficult about it. I dragged the corpse of my Adoring Fan in front of a guard today and he didn't bat an eyelid. XD

It lets you get away with pot shots if your sneak skill is high enough and you're well hidden. They definitely won't home in on you like they do by default, they come to investigate the area first and if they spot you that's when they charge. It works more like Thief III if you ever played that one =)

As for the distant textures package, I'm not sure, I checked the boxes but there's no mention they have to be enabled in the readme. I might have to read the original thread again hehe.

BTmod has the option to remove the quest markers, but they're left enabled by default. I need those too otherwise I'd get lost for hours!

Ah see that's the point, for mages and thieves, dragging a corpse is time consuming when you can only pull its' arm a few feet at a time. It doesn't let you fling bodies around like paper ragdolls, just makes it a tad bit easier for weaker characters :p

In your oblivion\data directory, some mods go in sub directories that you have to create but it's always explained in the readmes :p
