Oblivion wont make xbox360 launch

"It’s official, 2K Games has pushed back Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to December 5. The new release date was confirmed an hour or so ago. No word on why the delay, though I’m guessing that the company needed more time to optimize the game for the 360 because Msoft was so late it getting final hardware out to developers."

I'm hoping this doesnt further delay the pc version till next year, I was looking forward to this for the holiday season

ya it isnt that much of a delay ...just for those who pre-ordered it and may have nothing to play on the day they receive their xbox360 ..although I bet that anyone who's shelled out $500 + for a console would also buy more than one game

this thread is about pure pc selfishness ...I hope the delay doesnt delay the pc version, xbox360 owners be damned cuz I'm not one of them :E

I'd still treat this news with speculation, as Bethseda have adamently stated that any news of delay would appear on their site, plus they've been spouting the past few weeks that it'll definitely be there for the X360 launch.

Yeah, but MS has also stated that they consider "Launch" to mean anything from the release day to 2-3 months after it, so it might be there for "launch"...just on New Year's Day.

I, too, hope that its ready by Christmas for the PC too--its tops on my list!!!

I don't mind if its being delayed- I'd rather have a smooth-running optimized game later than a crappy un-optimized game now.
Plus I dont really care about Oblivion anyway.

ya the link I posted said it was official but a quick search of their site found nothing ...but I tend to believe it because there were rumours of this yesterday when GameStop changed their release date ...apparently someone emailed asking for confirmation which is what I assume this is

I know this is doubtful but I sure hope this delay is gonna be used to make the animations and character movement smoother cause thats the only thing that has me dissapointed in this game.:|

Who cares what the developers say? If the publisher says it will be delayed, then the game is delayed, whether it is ready or not. I seriously doubt that we'll see it on release DAY. But who cares? Its only a couple of weeks anyway...we've waited this long....

I believe its getting a multi-platform world wide release, the official site forum has been bouncing around with the Dec 5th for about 2 months.

I believe what was happening was that some countries won't get it till the 5th, so the release dates for the western countries are going back to coincide with that. I believe its just a precautionary thing to make sure the Xbox has been released across the globe before distributing the game

As much as I like consoles, I ****ing hate that they are migrating to releasing games on console before PC... really pisses me off. Used to be reversed.

Should go back to where PC games are PC games and console games are console games. Or atleast bring the FPS genre back to PC and only on PC. Quality is lost when they multi-patform. :frown:

Not a big deal really, but I wouldnt trust this site, because they say its to "possibly add a few more hours of gameplay to an already 200-hour experience." I know for a fact that one extra week will not be enough time to do anything with gameplay. Its just bug fixes at this point, and when it goes gold which is usually a week or so before release, then game is finished.

The most likely reason from what I've heard is that on X360 the game is stuttering a lot, enough to where it affects gameplay.
