Have you ever had any weird FPS ideas? f so, post 'em here. And don't worry about technical feasibility; this is all fantasy. Also, if you know of any weird ideas actually used in an FPS (or that could easily be used in one), post it here, too.

I have one: Player being shrunken. Could be either voluntary (press A to shrink, press A again to enlarge) or involuntary (plot event). Weapons (if any) do little to no damage. Could be used as a way to hide. Obvious potential as a way to get to new areas. Obvious easter egg potential.

Interstellar Handheld Portal Gun: Real Memory Killer. Take a game where there are various planets you can travel to. Maybe there's ice you need to melt on one planet but the flamethrower is one another one and you aren't allowed to take weapons to different planets. Well, just open 1 portal at the ice and one at the flamethrower a melt away! Could allow taking weapons and objects through portal, or not (ex. you'd have to shoot through the portal). Note that it wouldn't work if you tried to put the second portal on the same planet as the first.

Crowbar/Wrench/Chairleg: Here me out; you know the crowbar from HL2? (If you don't, I don't know why you're at these forums.) Well, what if you could use any object like the crowbar, within reason. You'd still have to throw te can, but you could pick up a bottle of beer or a baseball bat and whack a Combine over the head with it. Some you'd only be able to use once (like the bottle), while others could be used infinitely (like the bat).

Rated M for Mature :D

How about games in general?

I think someone should get working on A Song of Ice and Fire MMORPG. And they should do so NOW.

I think they should start adapting more board games to video game form. We're on the right road with Carcassone and Catan on XBL.

Done in Condemned, to an extent.

Shrink = Duke Nuken 3D. Looooong time ago.

How about a game set in WW2? But wait for it, you can play more than one character!

CoD2?
You got to play as a Russian, American, AND Brit!

How about a game set in WW2? Where you play as...

wait for it...

A german soldier unwilingly serving his NAZI overlords. **** political corectness or whatever I want this!

WW1 game.

And no if you have any knowledge on the battles, it wasnt all just sitting around in trenches all day, there were some pretty amazing battles that took place, for instance the assualt on Turkey etc.

May or may not include jew eradication.

Actually, they should make this game, it'd be a very, very tense game. There should be a Condemned-like scene (scene is in spoiler-tag below):
The scene where you are aiming at the serial killer who is lying in the trunk (bound with ropes). You have five seconds to choose between killing him or letting him live.

Imagine, you're happily shooting Americans in the face in all its FPS glory, when you kick in the door to a house and you suddenly see a small jewish family cowering in a corner. Your officer tells you to kill them. In the game, you'd have a few choices:
1) Kill them. The game continues with you against the Americans in all its FPS glory.
2) Refuse to kill them. The other soldiers kill them, and you are nerfed with shittier weaponry (lol). Game continues as in option 1.
3) As the soldiers are looking away, help them escape. After that you play a small, tense part where you have to hide you and the family from other German soldiers and your squadmates as you escape the village. You join the Allied side and continue playing the game as an infiltrator and saboteur. Essentially an entirely different playing style from the Axis campaign.
4) Kill your squadmates. A small shootout occurs. Other Axis troops hear the shots and come to investigate, whereas you can either shoot them aswell or hide. Game continues as in option 3.

There we go, I made you an award-winning, GOTY-edition, Runner-Up-To-Best-Game-Of-All-Time-Half-Life design document. Now someone go make the game

Jintor: You could shrink the enemies (and step on them, IIRC), but you couldn't shrink yourself.

When I made this thread, I was really thinking more like things simular to the gravity gun, but some people here are coming up with interesting premises. Keep it up. :)

Beerdude: That sounds like Operation Flashpoint: Resistance, only replace the Cold War with World War II and the Soviets with the Nazis, and the Resistance with the Jews. Or maybe you switched to resistance because of civilians. Oh well, I can't remember.

Also, the guy would need to have been drafted by the HK (the Hitler Youth), otherwise it'd never have a chance being believed, even though it could and did happen (3 and 4)

Idea: World War II, now with the Gravity Gun. You're an American. You have to fight Hitler. Only it's the 21st century. Turns out the German scientists you didn't capture during World War II were able to build an advance life support system to keep him alive. He turns out to be behind the conflict in the middle east, using Iran as a puppet. I glitch in the time machine the Iranian scientists were testing sent your research company back into the 1940s. You're goal is to capture all the German scientists. To aid you, you have all kinds of high tech weapons.

And yes, if the Germans were smart enough to keep Hitler alive that long, they're smart enough to keep themselves alive that long. But Hitler shot them, and they ain't Gordon Freeman.

Another Idea: You lead a German resistance unit. It has a go-anywhere-do-anything style, simular to Grand Theft Auto, and a Conflict: Desert Storm style controls, only you can drive things (there's a driving tutorial, but I never did it ingame). You can also switch to first person, which plays like Half Life 2 (only without the HEV). Stealth would be extremely important, as would be enlisting allies. You can blend in with the other Germans if you're not wearing a German resistance uniform (which would be, like, an unlockable) or carrying a gun. At that point, you can enlist the help of people wearing a paperclip on their collar (a way to say "I hate Nazis" without them knowing. admitedly, it was the people in, like, Norway who did this, but it's a game). Also, the Allies will always shoot you, even if they know that you're killing the Nazis. Also, you can enlist the help of German soldiers who aren't Nazis. (It'll be shown on everyone's mini-HUD, like in Command and Conquer: Renegade, their name, randomly generated, their alliance, Allied, Axis, Resistance, Germany, or None, and their health. Anyone with the alliance "Germany" can be recruited into Resistance).

A Third Idea: Porting every game using Havoc's physics on the Source engine. If I could get both Renegade's map editor and Hammer to work (neither of which work). I'd try to do it.

WW2 game done from the German side where the Germans were winning, so it's not stupid "OMG GERMANS INVADE USA" just that Germany somehow came back after Operation Market Garden and started re-taking land and eventually there'd be a series of awesome levels in each of the major allied capitals (Washington D.C, Moscow, London). It'd be done CoD style where you'd change characters every now and then (Go from basic infantry to a German sniper, then to a Panzer commander...blah blah blah)

Wouldn't want it that drastic but would want German missions, like their early successes, or the awsome Market Garden effort that CoH did but in CoD form.

I'm thinking more of a TES-like RPG. A Wheel of Time-based one could also work...

I'd shit myself if I met half the characters in the book. Sandor? Gregor? Fuuuuuuuck.

Immune Attack is a game I stumbled across recently that came up as a game that would fit this bill for me: a biologically correct FPS where you're coordinating an immune response in a human body. I've downloaded it, but haven't bothered to install it yet. Here's a list of the 'levels' from a page on their site:

Story Intro and Basic Training
Game 1: Monocyte to Macrophage (Transmigration)
Enter the Connective Tissue
Game 2: Follow the Chemical Trail (of C3a)
Game 3: Recognize the Enemy (Activate LPS Receptors)
Game 4: Eat the Pseudomonas!
Introducing The Neutrophil
Game 5: Call the Neutrophil to the Site of Infection (Activate CXCL8)
Game 6: Transfer Abilities to Neutrophils
Game 7: Eat the Staphyloccocus

If I get around to playing it, I'll report back.

edit - no configurable controls?! It seems like it would be fun, but the controls are teh sketch. It's supposed to be a learning aid, so there's a lot of dialog that can get old quick, but you can skip it. Maybe it'll work better with a joystick?

Looks interesting to say the least.

I'd like a GTA like game but where it takes place entirely in Imperial Rome. It would be primarily focused on fighting in the arena for a variety of situations (sea battles, killing lions, executing people etc).
The goal would be having the Emperor like you enough to grant you freedom.

tldr, I want to be one of the Thraces:

Jintor: No, I haven't. The only copy I have available is the GBA game. Is that a straight port? If not, does it also have mirrors?
VirusType2: I'd love to see the horse-cycles!
