In the "source sounds.gcf" file, I came across an interesting sound in the section "hl2\sound\npc\metropolice\vo".

The sound "runninglowonverdicts.wav" has the CP voice saying "Running low on verdicts, taking cover!" So this means that verdicts = bullets maybe? If so, funny stuff.

That is cool. Some Judge Dread type stuff there lol

I like the way the Combine have technical-sounding names for everything they encounter, like "Viromes", "Parasitics", "Necrotics", etc. Adds a bit to their inhumanity, IMO.

"Rank Leaders, Reminder: 100 sterilized credits qualifies non mechanical reproduction simulation"

That one still takes the cake for the funny award

My favorite one is one of the prision guards transmits:

"All units, primary target is utilizing biotics, I say again, Primary has biotic C and C (Command and Control)."

They also use alot of bizarre word combinations like "malcompliancy." Reminds me of Newspeak from the book 1984.

 That's awesome! Do you know which file it is?

If I remember right, Viromes are Ant Lions.
I think Biotics are Ant Lions. Zombies are Necrotics (Root word Necro means dead) and Virotics are any parasitic creature.

And editing my last post in this thread, the prison guard says;

"Warning, primary target is engaged and uhhh commanding full tactics with biotics. Repeat, primary target has tactical CnC with biotics."

Virotics must be the viral/chemical headcrabs I suppose

Verdicts, maybe that is just their tech-speak.

Verdicts mean it is your administered punishment. Whereas a normal legal verdict would be guilty, sentenced to jail, you are anticitizen one, who is intrinsically guilty, and the bullets administer your punishment.

I'm thinking too much into this probably, but hopefully you can see my meaning.

Bleurgh.

What do you use to open play *.gcf files?

GCFscape. Forgotten where I got mine, but do a search on google, it's not too hard to find. Maybe somewhere like fileplanet has it.
