I just ordered an external enclosure for a 5.25" drive to use for a DVD optical drive.

It did not say it was OEM until I got the order confirmation email. So will this thing come with a power brick to make it work?

I will be angry if I have to hunt down a matching power adapter.

I buy OEM HDD all the time because I have my own SATA cables, but has anyone bought an OEM enclosure before, or anything OEM (besides HDD) and what did it come with. Thanks.

Even if it's OEM is should come with the power brick since it's part of the deal.

Came with absolutely everything - at almost half price.

Cool..

Wish I could say "no sweat", buying open box. Wow, I don't like that feeling of uncertainty. Well, hopefully: shit works.

Also, delivered from 3,000 miles on 2nd day, with standard 3 day shipping. <3 Newegg.

Usually OEM products wont come with the original box or accessories that aren't crucial for the product to function.

There was a contradiction on newegg's FAQ:

I hope I quote this right:

Open box items are items that people opened and returned, but newegg tests them for functionality before reselling as an open box item.

(note: newegg requires all returns to have all original parts, instructions, boxes, accessories)

With that said, I figured I was good.

Furthermore, reading somewhere on their site, it says that they make every effort to include any missing item from an open box deal. (I would assume that means if it was missing it's USB cable, that they would throw one in from their stockpile of cheap-o generic USB cables.)

Finally, in another section entirely, I noticed after the fact, it states that Open box items COME WITH NO ACCESSORIES (emphasis theirs), even if they are required for the item to function.

...So, I'm like shit. WHICH IS IT, BRO

Not only that, but the item I purchased did NOT say OEM. It didn't even say it on the order form/checkout. It only said OEM on the shipping email.

Funny thing, it came in the retail box with instructions and all packaging and accessories. It looked as if it was never hooked up.

****ed up part is I started making plans in case I couldn't use it, and came up with a better solution. So I don't even need it. Oh well, $15 for an aluminum 5.25" powered USB enclosure with fan. Not a bad deal.
