off topic question: how many friends do you have?

Hi there,
I was arguing with my sister this morning and she told me I was a geek... I asked her why she thought I was a geek, and she said I was a geek because I have no friends. That left me thinking. Let's see, I have 1, 2, 3, 4 friends. A handful of friends. And the worst part is that they are all geeks! Ok, perhaps it is a bit harsh to call them geeks, but they are certainly not the type of guys you will find dancing in a disco...

What does it say about me if I don't have a lot of friends? Does it say that I am a geek?

Unattractiveness is a subjective characteristic, so perhaps the first part of that definition does not apply to me. As to the second part, I guess the fact that I have only 4 friends is a token of my social awkwardness.... or is it?

I have about 14 close friends right now, none of which are really geeks. I don't see some of them as often as I would like though since some of them go to different universities.

Anyway, I certainly consider myself a Geek and don't really have anything wrong with it. Typically the people who make fun of geeks in school usually end up working for geeks in the end.

I don't see it as something wrong, different people have different interests. If someone likes licking ducks I don't insult them for that. If someone enjoys eating people I don't insult them for that. etc.

I could have friends if i wanted, but I don't really like anybody beyond an aquaintance.

Something happens when you get older and you don't give a shit about friends. It's just all kind of pointless. Only family really matters and a girlfriend or wife. at least for me anyway.

meh, I didn't really have any female friends until my first year in university and the main reason I became friends with them was because I was living with them in the university dorm.

I have well over 100 friends and many many good freinds. I hang out with them often and ive had many gfs before...but I still consider myself a geek. The fact that you are here and especially making this topic is proof enough.

ohmagawd. Those things aren't necessarily bad, it's all about moderation. Nor do those three things have to all be lumped together. Whatever college you're talking about must be a real downer .
