Half-Life 2 Returns

...For the E3 showing that was never supposed to be

Half-Life 2 is on track to arrive this summer, to the delight of many.

"The game is very close to completion," says Doug Lombardi, Valve's director of marketing, "so the only difficulty in pulling this year's demo together is narrowing down the scenes to show in the two Half-Life 2 theaters." (Both Vivendi Universal Games and ATI have theaters in their E3 booths.)

And secondly a movie with an interview with Gabe (click "watch now" and in the new window click "Half Life 2" in the left view).
 
Hey guys I am now at the E3 show floor. I was there yesterday and saw both videos and got the t-shirt for doing so.

After the second one, Gabe Newell and Doug Lombardi walked in as well as the lead animator.

I clarified this with Gabe:

It is NOT Counter-strike 2, its "Counter-strike Source."

Release date target is still summer.

Counter-strike Source will be available separate from Half-life 2, but will come out the same day.

Team Fortress 2? He said he can't give out any info on that.

I shook his hand though. After seeing all the videos and pictures of Gabe, it was awesome.

There appears that one of the advertisements at www.scifience.net/hl2 does some nasty work on your computer.

It modifies your registry so that...
It may do something else, but I cannot be sure. Basically it automatically sends you to that link, which has a crapload of popups. Easy fix? When you try to change your homepage, amazingly that feature has been disabled (woohoo!!!).

On Wednesday, when I asked the lead animator (after the movie was played) "When will these videos be released online or on Steam," he looked at me, perplexed. He told me that people had been taping the demos all day and that they should be online on websites. I asked again when they will be on Steam and he said they will probably eventually get them on Steam.

In other words...it's not a priority....WHICH IS FINE! Don't get me wrong.
