I think it would be a cool thread idea to list your favorite movies with a short description and a link to the Internet Movie Database. This is not meant to be a big long rant about a single movie, but instead a long listing of everyone's favorites. If you want to talk exclusively about one movie you should create a new thread. I just like the idea of one thread having a long list of the greatest flicks.
When commenting, try to add at least a couple movies (not just one) and give a short description and the genre. And link them up to the IMDB. And no discussion without making an addition, please.

Action
Last Action Hero: Action-packed movie starring Arnold as the.. star of a movie that somehow winds up in the real world.
The Matrix: Kung-fu meets Sci-fi in this action movie about a robot-dominated Earth and a fake reality. Hugh Weaving plays the best villain of any movie ever made.
Predator: Arnold stars as the leader of a military rescue team that gets hunted by an unseen enemy in South American jungles.
True Lies: Arnold again p) stars in my favorite pure action flick of all time as a spy who has lied to his wife about his profession for decades before the truth comes out.
Horror
Alien: Probably the best sci-fi horror flick ever made, the crew of a remote spacecraft fight a strange alien that somehow climbs aboard...
Aliens: A very different style than the original, but a worthy sequal none the less- the survivor from the first movie awakens from a 70 year long hibernation to find that the planet in which the alien originated from is now being colonized by humans. A group of marines are dispatched as a rescue crew.
The Lost Boys: The story of a family that moves to a city known for its high crime rates. Why? Vampires. The movie's best quality is its rockin' 80s soundtrack.
Plan 9 From Outer Space: Undoubtedly the worst film of all time, Plan 9 was directed by Ed Wood and tells the story of an alien race's 9th plan to take over Earth- to raise an army of the undead. A definate must-see, if you are into cult flicks.
The Thing: Definately my favorite horror film, John Carpenter's The Thing remakes a 1950s story of a shapeshifting alien that can take the form of humans and attacks an Antartic research crew.
Comedy
The Big Lebowski: One of the strangest, yet most hilarious random comedys I've ever seen. Lebowski, an unemployed bum, gets involved in a huge mess of gangs, scandals, and porno directors all because two guys peed on his carpet...
Clifford: Probably a very unknown comedy to most; Martin Short plays a young troublemaker that destroys the life of a city planner. A childhood favorite of mine.
Life of Brian: Monty Python at its best as they tell the tale of Brian- and how he was named a messiah around the same time Jesus was. WARNING! Not for the religious that cannot take things with a grain of salt.
Raising Arizona: Bizarre comedy starring Nicolas Cage, a common theif who steals a baby from a woman who has an octoplut because his wife cannot conceive.
Drama
Adaptation: Nicolas Cage plays an emotionally distressed screenwriter that is currently writing a movie about flowers, but this unknowingly gets him into a lot more.
Donnie Darko: A psychological drama about a disturbed teenager that discovers some rather strange things...
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: My absolute favorite movie of all time due to its parallels with my own life. Jim Carrey, after breaking up with his girlfriend Kate Winslet, decides to have an operation to remove her from his memory. However, during the process he discovers that he still loves her, and tries to call it off.
Fight Club: Must-see flick about an insomniac and his friend that create a club in which men fight... but eventually it becomes something more.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: Jack Nicolson feigns insanity to get out of a work prison, and discovers the harsh conditions of the asylum.
Reservoir Dogs: Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, Resevoir Dogs is a gangster film dealing with a diamond heist gone wrong. Some of the best acting and dialogue of any film I've ever seen.
