Official Playstation Magazine editor doesn't even want a PS3

Wow man u have got to be kidding. I'm probably getting a Nintendo myself...much cheaper, better games, more innovative, ect. Rather than a 600 dollar piece of crap filled with features that no one will use.
Actually, the PS3 ($600 US model) is 425 British Pounds, so it's a little better.

Still, 425 pounds = $803.10, so for the SAME MACHINE, you brits are paying more than $200 MORE than people in the US... :|

Everything is so expensive in UK, the chances are it will be £499 or something like that. Play.com have a PS3 w/3 games bundle for £550.

I'll be picking up a Ps3, 360 just doesn't have as much unique "killer app" titles for me to warrant a purchase of the system. Theres umm...Halo 3...and...Gears of War. I might get a 360 some where way down the line when it has more titles that are a bit more interesting. But right now the Ps3 has more games that are catching my eye. Whether or not some of those titles may be ported over to the 360 doesn't matter to me. i dont want watered down versions of the games on a technologically inferior console. The Ps3 in my eyes completely warrants the cost. Full backwards compatability, Blu-Ray, 60gig HD. Sony is supposedly going to offer a Live like online system, for for free. Game wise: Resistance, MGS4, DMC4, Warhawk, Sonic, Heavenly Sword, Assassin's Creed, Motorstorm. One of the things im worried about though is the fact GTA4 is going to the 360, i hope the Ps3 version doesn't suck because of this :(.

It'll be fine either way if you like GTA. Besides, DMC4, Sonic, and (I'm not sure this next one has been confirmed yet, but it's obvious if it hasn't already been) Assassin's Creed will be on 360 as well, and those are all guaranteed to be good (Maybe not Sonic, but it probably will be).

Well MAYBE..i'm just throwing "possible" scenarios out..... By the time Blu-Ray or HD-DVD gain any significant lead over one another.... prices on Blu-Ray Drives will go down significantly.

Then the Ps3 will be what? $450, $400 still? The 360 will have gone down quite a bit by then too, and the Wii will probably be around $100 - $150 by that time.

All i'm saying is, "if" Blu-Ray does become dominant, movies will still be coming out on DVD's 5 - 8 years after... Eventually you'll have Blu-Ray players at $60. Plus in order to actually see any of the damn image quality improvements you'll need an HD-TV anyway. So why not also wait for HD-TV price to come down aswell? During that wait time you can still keep buying all the new movies on DVD's.

By the time Blu-Ray players hit ~$60 bucks it'll likely be nearing the end of it's generation. Unless I'm not mistaken, HDTV prices have been coming down...

Ratio of price to fun:

Price - Fun

360: Medium - High
PS3: High - High
Wii: Low - High

Im going to go with the Wii on this one guys...

Fair enough, but Wii games don't appeal to everyone. I certainly think they look fun, but they also look like the types of games I would tire of quickly. I can respect the simplicity and originality of the design, and I may even buy one myself eventually ... but those aren't my kind of games. The same goes for the 360 to a lesser extent, as it has the kinds of games I like but not the specific development teams and series that I prefer.

Then there's other things like Blu-Ray and not having to pay a fee to play games online that really just throw it over the top for me. It is pricey, but I'd rather spend the extra $100 and get the console I really want than skimp out and regret it.
