ALright, I haven't posted much. In fact, I haven't really posted at all.

However...

In such that I am a gay newbie, and that I risk being made fun of and diminishing my self esteem, here goes, well, another post.

DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNN.... *suspense builds* * gasping occurs*

FROM A FRIEND:
Well, it might be a lame survey, but it's not a generic one. It's just a question I have and that is: why have children? For those of you who are all for having kids (or already have them) I'm going to take away a few of the gimmes: 1) because it's a natural human desire (though I will allow you to speculate why it is a natural human desire); 2) because kids are wonderful (though I'll allow you to justify it versus the state of the life and the consequences, good and bad, of bringing up something wonderful in a world that might not (depending on your viewpoint) be wonderful); and 3) because it's the ultimate expression of love between two people (once again, I'll allow you to argue why). I guess I'm asking for more than the cliche answers here. Obviously I've revealed some of my cards by asking for the philosophy of it all--I mean, who had kids because their philosophy was right?--but I'm curious what your answer is.

Here's my answer:

I've actually been of the camp that says, "No! No kids. No complications (read responsibilities), no mini-me's running around, none of that."

But...

Now that I've been with Nick, and now that I know we'd be good (read perfect) role models, and now that I've thought about it longer than 5 minutes and had to actually think about things more than myself...
Kids are, well, an experiment.
Please don't take that the wrong way. Kids are what is lasting, and we don't know what is lasting, but if we do things right, kids are what makes things right.
Kids are us, in the future, ongoing, hopefully carrying with them what we think is right. Hopefully, before we have kids, what we think is right.
I'll be a great mom someday. I'll be a great role model. I'm working on it now, actually. I'll be (I am) someone to learn from, to guide opinions, to harvest confidence, to gain independance. I've done these things myself. I want to pass on this...this loving and accepting humanity, this sharing and caring and giving, and Nick is the only one who's seen this in me and had it himself.

So, there it is. Kids mean passing on what I (read: we - Nick and I) think humanity is.
And we, you and I, are results of the humanity that was passed on to us. We are made of what our parents thought was right. Hopefully thay thought this much about us before we were a result of one of the other myriad reasons pregnancy occurs...

Only, I want mine to be able to think for themselves, like people, like individulas, like ones who try to see through and take the initiative to change things so they're right, like I've done and am always trying to do.
I think this is the only way to change the sadness that I see and sometimes endure...
More in my past now, than in my present.

...

Why hasn't anyone commented on my newest picture?
"Make my ship ready, general. It's time to show those dogs what we are made of."

"Charge forth!!"

Uh yeah, what the hell are you doing?

/me snickers

edit: This is a post from my live in love slave. Sometimes I don't know what the hell she is doing.

You only don't know because you don't pay attention.

ANYWAY,

I was hoping to discuss -DICKSUSS- about having kids, or no. Thought it would be lively, you know?

Forgive, Glenn. She is not comfortable with this whole "forum" thing.

Wow...

I was a regular once on Pointlesswaste of time, once upon a time.

It's just that when two posters live together, and the whole double-posting thing is mentioned...just take my word for it...not trying to annoy, just trying to steer the convo back onto having kids, or not, is all.

I will cry when i'm done killing. But seriously, stop double posting...use the edit button in your posts. Stop the sillyness please.

I just had fun watching a black german pornstar called coco. Very pointy nipples i might add.

You guys should check out her work.

I really don't see the sillyness.

Posts as such as this are menat to read as a conversation, and maybe I'm an interrupter-er, but I don't really care about the double posting.

However, I'd love if you made some sort of comment on what this was supposed to originally to be about rather than online posting ediquette. That'd be nice.

Don't wanna use the edit button yet, by the way. Deal.

I get your point Fusion, not those points, but your point...

How comes you are in that story Greatgat? Thinking about kids already?

edit: GirlNextDoor, i appreciate that you don't care about double posting, but something you agreed to when you signed up to these forums is the code of conduct and double posting is on the list of things we ask you not to do. I suggested the edit button in order for you to save your own skin and avoid further confrontation. Now please stop the further sillyness.

Are you a Burroughs fan, Girlnextdoor?

"Which came first, the intestine or the tapeworm?"

I <3 Burroughs. Wish I were more well-read, though.

And I heart you all too, just please, for the sake of this post, comment on the kids thing.

And Gat and I will eventually procreate, yes. Just wondering what the general consensus was on this site, with these people.

You kinda sorta really missed my point, but ok.
