Ohh so it's 'okay' to be a fat???

Err... you do realize that you quoted a BMI chart right? That chart basically tells jack shit about obesity since it doesn't even attempt to discern the differences of the subject's actual 'mass'.

E.g. A ripped 6'0 230 lb. athlete would be listed in the same category as a chubby 6'0 230 lb. couch-potato.

Why don't you do a little research before you make such statements. If you actually put an intelligent thought out in the internet to gather information about what I said, you will see that I am right.

McDonalds... stop ****ing talking about McDonalds okay? That doesn't even factor into what I'm talking about. I'm talking about families buying food products that for all intents and purposes seem fine and healthy. But when you look at them through a more technical lens and see that the makeup of these foods as we progress technologically, is full of things that do the body way more harm than good.

We have products like high fructose corn syrup finding their way into almost every product imaginable, liquid and solid. This is a HUGE contributing factor of obesity in America, the high fructose corn syrup. It isn't just about the amount people are eating, or the type of food people are eating(such as a comparison of McDonalds vs storebought). It's about the makeup of food as we progress that becomes the true subject and culprit of obesity.

The obesity epidemic is a very real and serious issue plaguing the United States, and increasingly the world. However, if you DO YOUR ****ING RESEARCH you can see that it's a very recent trend, and it's evidenced of the fact in the last 60+ years we have had amazing technological advancements in all areas of life. But many of those concerning the food industry are in fact not ideal. High fructose corn syrup. Hormones injected into livestock. Artificial ingredients used in foods to increase flavor. Processing techniques that strip foods of ideal nutritional content for the sake of appearance and shelf life.

If you look 70 years ago and beyond, we don't have the epidemic we have today with obesity. When people were fat in those days, it was often a case of gluttony or severe medical problems. But today, your average person can easily succumb to the many chemicals and other ingredients that are wholly unnatural in much of the everyday food we consume, without touching fast food at all. And while eating a moderate amount of calories.

So... that all being said... don't be a ****ing retard and throw out one of those sweeping blanket statements that "Fat people are fat because they are lazy and stupid.". Instead... DO SOME RESEARCH and you will see that I am for the most part, 100% correct.

Until then, you just sound like an idiot. An uninformed, ranting idiot.

Modified foods is a problem. But at the same time, you cannot overlook overconsumption and the change in lifestyle as contributing factors. If people make the conscious choice of choosing physical activities over sedentary ones and placing greater emphasis on choose healthy and appropriate meal proportions, I think it's safe to assume that this would overcome low metabolism / modified foods. Like Scott said, it boil down to choice that requires sacrifices to overcome whatever obstacles you face. Will you put forth the effort needed to overcome the challenges in losing weight or are you satisfied with your current condition?

Sea: Difficulty isn't an excuse. Life should never be so simple as to have things handed to you on a silver platter. The amount of effort he / she puts in should determine what he / she gets out of it. Sure, it may be hard, but it's still no excuse to not keep trying and putting forth 100% effort if he / she is truly committed to losing weight.

I don't think you realise that for someone obese, it's not so easy. A five-minute jog can be enough to completely exhaust someone like that; even climbing up stairs can be a struggle. Cutting back on fatty foods is definitely easier than exercising, and will give you better results, but those types of food are very addictive. Moreover, the more you eat, the more you feel you need to eat, because your stomach expands and you don't feel full as quickly. I don't know if you've ever lost a significant amount of weight (over 30 pounds, let's say), but it's not something that anybody can do quickly and easily.
I agree here too. The problem with eating healthy here in the States though is that healthy food costs alot more than greasy, un-healthy food, and to some people, it tastes a lot better. I like eating healthy food though, but it's just so damn expensive. So I guess they can blame society and government too I suppose.:P I mean, a f***ing apple should not cost more than a bag of potato chips imo.;) It's a conspiracy I tell you! they want all the poor/middleclass people who can't afford healthy food to die young for the sake of controlling the population of undesireables.:P Still, there's no excuse for obesity if one really feels negative about being fat. I say if they dislike it that much, quit being so damn wimpy and go for a walk.:P Despite unfair pricing on healthy food, obesity must not bother them enough that they would take an alternative solution like exercising. P.S. to evil_milk:why did you have to post some wide-screen shit? Couldn't you have found a smaller version of that chart or something?:P

That's interesting, in Canada the healthy food is dirt cheap to buy, but the unhealthy food is expensive.
It's cheaper to buy your own food, or to GROW your own food. To say that it's too expensive to eat healthy food is ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT.

Also, the title should be changed from Fat to Obese, being fat isn't really bad, but when you are obese you should worry about it. Just because you have the resources to save yourself from heart problems and shit if you are obese doesn't mean you should be obese so you can use them.

What about that poor person who needs the operating room because he/she has something wrong with them that they couldn't really control, but they have to be stuck on a waiting list because some dude who eats all the food he/she can get his hand on, and eats unhealthy as ****, suffered another heart attack? The first heart attack caused from obesity should be the only sign you need to start going out there.

And losing weight? It's not hard. Drop those ****ing diet pills,
DRINK MORE WATER!
GO OUT AND EXERCISE! Guess what, a 5 minute jog tires you down? GOOD! Work from there and improve it, at your weight level that 5 minute jog will raise your metabolism up for probably 24 hours which will drop your pounds like flies.
CONSIDER HOW MUCH FOOD YOU EAT! Don't eat until your so stuffed you are going to feel like your going to vomit. Eat until you are satisifed.
PUT DOWN THAT BEER/SODA CAN! Just drop pop all together, and personally I'd drop the beer all together too.

And if you do have some medical condition that makes you obese, and you honestly can't help it, then use those medical resources to keep you alive, you have just as much right to be in the hospital as the person who is dieing/suffering from some infection/disease/sickness.

And on the terms of losing weight easily? It's ****ing easy. I stopped drinking pop, and lost a good 10 pounds JUST doing that. I started to eat less and ate just a LITTLE more healthier, and guess what? I lost about 30 pounds over summer, and my summer involves me sitting down on a computer or playing guitar for about 3 months. Being lazy as I can be, but I still lost pounds. People are different, some do need to struggle with it, but just because you have to struggle with it doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Infact it should give you more reason to do it.

It might be easy for you to lose weight, but its not easy for many people.

Last year I cut down to a 1300 calorie diet, biked 4 miles a day, drank only water, and had balanced nutritional meals.

I lost only 14 pounds in 6 months.

My most successful attempt at weight loss was when I was 12, and went on an extremely strict weight watchers diet with mixed aerobic and weight-lifting excercizes. I lost 40 pounds in 1 year. I then proceeded to gain back all of the weight in about 3 months. I've gained those 40 pounds all back, plus an extra 25 in the past 6 years, basically going up and down. And I'm the same ****ing height.

to whom? ..unless they're a red head or extremely blond ..white skin is kinda unattractive ..not healthy looking imho

I actually find pale, brown haired girls very attractive. Call it genetics, sexual selection, whatever, "attractive" is different for everybody.

And besides, "pale" is the healthiest skin color of all for a naturally pale Caucasian person. If they're pale, it means they haven't sustained much UV radiation and are much less likely to have skin cancer or wrinkles later in life.

This is such a disease. I cant believe someone would even think this.

Some of you guys do not have a clue.

There are many reasons for people being overweight, what`s more, it will proably surprise you to learn it`s not all about food.

Some people have problems which will not let them exercise, eg, they don`t have full use of their legs, in which case how do these people keep their weight off?

The solution may seem easy to people who have never had to go through something like this, nonetheless, don`t attack and generalise about the whole overweight community around the world when you don`t fully understand the situations.

Yes, this is a topic pretty close to my heart, but I`m f*cked if I`m going to go into the reasons for it on here.

Some people piss me off.

Yeah, but that's in CANADA!:P Big difference. Try buying healthy stuff here in the U.S. as compared to un-healthy stuff like junk food and you'll see what I mean.:P A bag of medium sized cheezy poofs here may cost somewhere around $1.00USD or less where just one friggin' apple actually may cost more.:P Since most obese people usually don't like the taste of healthy food to begin with, it's even more enticing to them to just buy junk food when it's cheaper.

Just tonight I was riding with my mom (didn't feel like driving since it was shitty out... let her drive, amirite?) and she stops at a McDonald's. After not eating fast food for a good six months, I can't even stand the smell of it anymore. Anyway, she goes through the drive-thru and I said to just get a salad instead. "No, I only have $3." (Salads are $6.) So she buys two double cheeseburgers and a small fry for $3.14. Made me lol for quite awhile.

My point exactly! I'm not assuming your obese or anything though Qonfused, I just hate how it seems we're being totally jipped as far as a better, more healthy and affordable diet here in the U.S. goes.:P I hate f***ing greasy food all the time, but it's alot cheaper!:P

As crazy as it is, with fast food salads you often get more calories than a big mac, and almost the same amount of fat if you use their sauce packets. It's insane really. I mean sure, the food as a whole is healthier if it's romaine lettuce and tomatoes and perhaps some carrots and cucumbers, but that sauce packet can just destroy you when it comes to calories and unhealthy fats and salt.

My family has been addicted to fast food for quite a while. I was raised on the damn stuff, up in Alaska and down here in Texas. I've started to really protest it when they buy me fast food. I simply don't want to eat it anymore. It took a while but I think I'm almost completely weaned off it, with the exceptions of the occasional pizza or Americanized Chinese food.

Soda was something I have stopped drinking AGES ago. I started to hate the way it made my teeth feel. And it was addictive as hell. I am completely weaned off it. I can still enjoy a sip every now and then, but generally I never touch the stuff. It's just water and milk for me.

Years of being fed irresponsibly with unhealthy foods though has taken a toll. I've got a few pounds I need to lose. I've come to completely acknowledge the problem though, and I protest it in every way I can, when it comes to fast food, and typically unhealthy grocery bought canned and prepared foods.

Lol, my family is the same, but the inverse.

Instead of fat food my mom thought she was feeding us healthy stuff. This meant she completely eliminated fats from our diet.

When I was 16 I was 5'8" and weighed 51 kg (110 pounds).

Two years later I've taken nutrition on my own hands. It gets kind of tiring to protest when my parents never exercise and still get fat with their fat free food. They also get sick more often, how ironic. :(

My cousin came the past holidays for Christmas. He lost about 5 kg (10+ pounds) in two weeks.

Kudos on eliminating soda habits, that thing is eeevil. A friend of mine can't eat without having coke. He says the food tastes different. :o

 so true. Any salad with the words, "chef" or, "ceasar" is not a very healthy salad unless you omit the dressings. Weird, but I'll eat raw lettuce and tomatoes like it was candy. Fruits are my version of "candy". I love fruits. I was a weird kid too back then though. I never really liked candy of any sort (save for Twix bars every now and then) and my parents never had any trouble getting me to eat my greens. My one real weakness though is any kind of fried or homemade mashed potatoes. Lots and lots of starch and carbs in potatoes.:P BTW:It's not the fast-food burgers that kill your health and weight, it's the fries and soda.:P (which I hardly ever drink anymore myself) I once heard of a guy who lost over 50lbs. by just eating three BigMacs a day and drinking nothing but water.

My only problem with fat people is they raise their kids to be fat and unhealthy alot of the time. There have been many cases in which social services has taken kids away from their parents for not limiting their food intake.

Being overweight is unsafe but so is smoking cigarettes.

Hey Tyguy, get some sleep.

haha, oops.

a bee stung all my fingers so its hard to type :D
How in the hell did you manage to do that?:dozey: "A bee?" Bees lose their stingers after one hit. It would have to be a wasp.
