Oil Owned

finally, the price gouging is ridiculous, though thankfully prices have dropped some the prices are still far more than they should be

gas dropped back down to 2.36 a gallon for regular here...so much for all the people thinking the end was near when they were paying 3.36

Good thing! We can finally get back to driving cars with atrocious fuel economy for trivial pursuits. For a while there, I thought everyone might have done something silly.

Oil prices will follow a rising trend in the future. Just watch.

The right to have access to oil will diminish with our increasing demand, and the lack of supply.

"CEOs made no apologies"

in other words "it's nice that you're posturing for the press and your constituents but dont forget who paid for your last election campaign"

At the risk of sounding self centred here, long may the prices remain high, it keeps me in work.
(I work in the oil industry).

Hey...supply and demand.

You guys demand it, we supply it.

Blame your Governments and multinational companies...I'm just a pawn.

The demand for oil is not driven by me but by you.

Every time you fill your car with petrol, switch a light on in your house, every time you decide to have a BBQ in your back garden is fuelling the industry I work in.

Which ever angle you look at it fossil fuel is the driving force behind everything we do.

I really can't believe I am defending the oil industry, but reality is without it we would quite literally be back in the Stone Age.
If you want to apportion blame for the greed of the oil company’s maybe you should look at yourselves (ourselves).

Again...supply and demand

OH NOES!!!! the price of oil is getting to the price of milk !!!! affirmative action is taking its toll on our consumer products as well it seems D:

Yes... its true that oil is still cheaper than many other liquids out there... however, you have to take into consideration that the average family only drinks about one gallon of milk a week, unless they're heavy milk users. The average family burns far more than 1 gallon of gasoline per week in their vehicles.

a gallon a day bitches ! well my family all together. and fill up with pepto bismol next time 0.o, like $100 - $150 a gollan *cries* why oh why did i buy that pepto power car?

Hmmm, My family goes through about 3-5 gallons of milk a week. Capitolist slobs!

baxter, is your job; are your wages directly (or even indirectly) tied to the price of gas?

Incidentally, how is it the job of the oil companies to keep prices low? Shouldnt they be allowed to set their own prices?

Its something that needs to be regulated, as the countries operation depends on it.

Then perhaps we need a national oil company, but to demand that the existing companies allow their prices to be regulated by the national government seems rather anti-capitolistic.

If they don't like it, they can get out of the buisness. Seriously, if they don't conform to the regulations, the government needs to seize their assets... because sadly, lack of oil in this company will completely shut down the economy. Everything uses oil in one way or another.

Well, I agree with that much for sure. I'm currently writing a paper on the implications of peak oil.

Yes it is, by virtue of the fact that there is more work for service industries if oil companies make good profits. The higher the price of a barrel of oil the more that oil companies will invest in development of fields and exploration of other fields.
Basically if an Oil Company, for example BP is getting $50 per barrel of oil they have plenty of profit for their initial investment. That profit can then be ploughed back into their industry.
If the price of oil drops, oil companies profits drop and investment and development drops off.
For guys working in the support and service industry of the oil industry its boom or bust, dependant on the price of oil.
Sorry to bore, it's basically the domino effect.

im sorry but i just gotta sat it "THEBADMANPUNTEDBAXTER D:" *cries*
