Me nd my friends were chattin about the ep2 screenshots, nd we came up with a thery.... Take a look

http://www.halflife2.net/news//1181209134_938210_20070606_screen002.jpg

Is it me or does this look like the entrance to black mesa we see on half life 1 as you get off the tram. i tried to get a screenshot, but havin problems, if any1 could get a screeny of the reception ill show u wat i mean....

People who think it's Black Mesa are slowly getting on my nerve. Really.
I guess it's the Aperture Science facility.

So there's a desk, an entrance, and a big screen. Hey that room from black mesa had those things! There must be a connection!!1

Black mesa is long gone, the room looks nothing like it anyway.

I never pay attention to what section I'm in unless I wanna make a thread.

New Posts function ftw

Yeah. I usually use that unless there's 5 pages of unread threads; then I'll just go through The Lounge. I consider I know just about everyone who posts, but then I travel into the HL2 sections and see people with 2k posts I've never seen before. Creeps me out.

Yes, it looks similar, but those doors to the hallway weren't there at Black Mesa. But who knows.

It is very similar, but I don't think it's Black Mesa.

It's the g-man's domain. Black Mesa was nuked, wasn't it? Though G-man does have the power to put people in stasis, maybe he can do it with buildings too.

nothing alike in my opinion, the doors in black mesa were thick metal doors that closed vertically

Its not black mesa. There are a number of obvious differences between the two shots (No door at the start of the hallway, No colored lines running along the far wall, no outcroppings jutting out from the ceiling). Its most probably the Aperture science center.

Interesting thing is Valve has told that they like to show the players where they would go in the future beforehand. Does that mean....hmmm..

i dont think it is Black Mesa and i dont think it is Aperture Sciense facility.

yeh me and my m8 were thinkin that black mesa was nuked but who says he didnt save part of it, or get it rebuilt, cos he would of just put those double doors in (??)

nd i was tryin to go on gmod nd place gman behind the desk etc, but havin more problems :(

Apparently, he can do it with planes and trains, so I don't see why not. Why people are so worked up about how this couldn't possibly be Black Mesa is beyond me. We've yet to talk to the G-Man in a place that wasn't some kind of hallucination.

Pff Opposing Force...

I think it's just the form the Gman's office takes when viewed through Gordon's eyes, he associates Gman with Black Mesa (where he first saw him) and thus the office appears to be similar to that.

The 'true' gman's office would no doubt send Gordon insane.

I think this has already been mentioned.

The way the G-man's office is set up is an allusion to the lobby of BMRF's Anomalous Materials department. Exposed concrete walls, doorway off to the side, single desk with an old monitor on the left, giant screen in the back.

When I first looked at the picture I thought it was an illusion of Black Mesa and he was messing with your head again.

Seconded.

nah i dnt tink it is black mesa eather it might be dat place from portal appertly dats gonna be connected i dobt it is but who knows.

i still think it looks too much like black mesa to be anything else, it might be a 'new black mesa' gman has been working on, who knows

lol i can just imagine that in the game....

'Hello, Mr.Freeman, please take a sssseat....'

Zomg, Gman Pocket Universe, why did I look at the picture. :(

May be he just liked the style of black mesa so he duplicated it for his office. Ofcourse with some changes.

course it does, can someone get a screeny from the same direction as the pic, nd post em together

There's no door there in the reception area for Black Mesa.

we will find out when the black mesa mod is done cuz grapics would be better dan connecting it wiv the old one hopefull vave will remake it demselves for pc and consols 360 and ps3 cuz i luv playing half life on consol and pc.

Maybe it's his office in the future, and it proves that he's human, and is trying to save humanity by helping Gordon. He's probably a US agent from the future.

Time-travel
Alternative realities
Illusion or hillucinations.

The thing about the HL series is that you shouldn't consider everything to be so linear, sceptical scientists think linearly.

You could say that, but you would be missing the point that back in '98 there wasn't enough computing power to give this section the makeover that it deserved. This is what I would imagine the sourcified version would of looked like if Valve put effort into recreating it.

Why would valve do that if the BMS mod is taking care of that job? If it really was, and we're supposed to even know that, then they'd be ****ing up BMS' job. And like someone else said, valve likes to show you where you go in the FUTURE! Why would they show you black mesa like that when

1. It's long gone.

2. You would have already been there, and everything would be in disarray instead of in it's place, and there'd be a dead sci on the ground, AND a vent shaft behind that desk, a little far enough to the left of it that you can see it on the right hand side of the players view, just a fraction, however.

3. Gordon would have seen himself standing there talking to GMAN, and said "Is that me? Who's that dude I'm talking to? Where am I really?... DID I JUST TALK?!"

4. There'd be a light hanging from the celling. Valve changes models, not placements.

5. The screen would be a map, not a Giant T.V. screen. There's no door there on the original, nor would it make sense to have one there. The Black mesa doors aren't push open, they're automated.

Your theory lacks the beef required to be fact. Look at things how they're meant to be, not how you hope them to be. We all wanna see black mesa in source version, we're just gonna have to wait for BMS.

Here's a fading of Black Mesa from HL1 and that image for those who want to see a visual comparison.

That's cool whoever spend there time doing that, too bad that they're not the same place.

I dont think it's black mesa, but it could be a reproduction to conufse Gordon.. or G-man is probably ****ing with his mind.. you know the spencer mansion reproduced in resident evil code veronica? could be like that.

I'm more reminded of the hotel room in 2001: A Space Odyssey. Sort of a fabrication by the imagination.

I don't think it is Black Mesa. However the similarities are such that it wouldn't surprise me to learn that it is the Aperture Laboratories and was built and run by the same people who built and ran Black Mesa. This would also explain how the G-Man is there since he had links to Black Mesa.

Aperture Labratories I would expect, Black Mesa actually looks lightly more used.

it might b new black mesa, that gman has made or the same place, that he just froze in time or something
