in my opinion (I know some of these might not actually be from Xen, but you get the idea)-

Headcrab
Vortigaunt
Poison Headcrab
Barnicle
Gronarch (sp?)
Antlion Gaurd
Antlion
Race X
Nihilithan
gargantua
weird fast rapter things in opposing force
bullsquid
those mini-nihilithan things in HL1
alien grunt
houndeye
fast headcrab
giant green tentacles
those little bug bombs in HL1... snorks?
the giant gene worm at the end of opposing force
other worm boss creature in opposing force

any I forgot? by the way, zombies dont count, they are a product of headcrabs

I don't try anything, I just do it... wanna try me?!

Snarks sucked. I could never hit them, so I had to hide on top of a box until they all exploded.

The Gene Worm sucked ass. The Snarks were kinda difficult to use effectively.

Big Mama was kinda cool. "Why don't we put a giant testical on a 20-foot armored spider?" Sounds good to me. The Nihilanth was a fitting final boss for the game. The Shock Trooper was a good, challenging enemy, as was the Voltigore.

*nods head slowly in agreement and looks expectantly towards the next speaker*

Geneworm, sock trooper and rest are race X. Howd they end up in this thread?

Vortiguant
tentacle
gonarch
gargantua
bull squid
Headcrab
leech
Alien Grunt
Alien Controller
Nilhilly
snark
hound-aye

the leeches sucked in my opinion, I didnt realize until later they were actually aliens... they weren't even on Xen

What is this "sock trooper" you speak of?

I say Alien Controller. Very annoying, even after discovering that magnums and crossbows were very effective against them. Hard to dodge, hard to hit, lots of of health, they plagued my attempt to get to Xen during my first playthrough.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

OMG INTERNET FIGHT!!!!

Keep it above the belt you ****s.

actually, its from a rob zombie song thunderkiss 65.... some woman says it, maybe segourny weaver (however you spell her name)

was kiddin

little spiders that came from that giant spider in the begining of Xen mission was really annoying and hard to kill.

You mean the baby headcrabs? Damn little critters.

Yep. The fast headcrabs are just as bad, and they do more damage. They're not really worrisome, just irritating.

yeah, the baby headcrabs really annoy me

You didn't realize they were aliens... :| Little wriggling worm things which ate you. And you didn't realize they were aliens.

aye man! leeches come from earth last time I checked, I just thought they had a little leech problem in black mesa!

and are they on xen in blue shift?

Best:
Gargantua
Vortigaunts
HeadCrabs
Snarks
Gonarch
Tentacle
AlienGrunt
Bullsquid
Ichtyosaur

Worst:
Houndeyes
Leeches
Controllers
Barnacles
Nihilanth
Fast HeadCrab
Poison HeadCrab

I'd switch barnacle with snarks.
Barnacles are better.
Snarks are just annoying, exploding leeches with feet, that run around and bite you.

Can't argue with anything else though.

My least favourite alien is probably the bullsquid. It's just uninteresting.

yeah, i kind of agree, theres something about it that isn't to great. i think if they re-did it's AI to be more agressive it might be cooler.I always thought the fact that it could spit reallyyyyy far was lame

The spitting ability itself is what makes it boring.
And maybe something else...

Yeah, the bullsquid was rather uninspiring. Those little spit gobs were easy to avoid and the creature wasn't particularly threatening. Same thing with the houndeye.

I liked the houndeyes more than the bullsquids personally, but they suck if they don't come in packs, and their shock wave should be more powerful, it only brings you down like 4 health points, thats so lame

The houndeyes charge time is too long too...i always beat them up with a crowbar before they can attack. They should have a bite attack or something, since one was seen eating a soldier in OP4 i think.

And the bullsquids spit things are really unoriginal...GEEZ how many games have enemies that throw round things at you??
doom-archvile, imp, and some others...half life-bullsquid,
OP4-gonome...and maaany other games...besides it's unrealistic how it just flies straight in one direction, completely uneffected by gravity, and at the same speed all the time.

Are you sure? I thought it was a security guard, and in Blue Shift. The second chapter, after the elevator crashes.

Im not sure...i read it somewhere.:|

Planetary is correct. But just because one eats a barney in BS doesn't mean that another one can't eat a soldier in OP4 (though I don't remember such an even).

Houndeyes have good potential, I think. They could have some interesting AI that could make them very dangerous. Imagine if a pack surrounds you and they all start charging up. If you try to leave the circle the nearest houndeye will jump at you and headbutt you back in.

Do you think Houndeyes will be back in the series? Maybe in Ep 3, maybe 2. I hope so.

The houndeyes do have potential but that idea of head-butt and charge up and overkill thing is weird.
That would make them TOO smart. Besides id just beat one up and run trough the gap.Maybe they truly can be seen in ep.3, but i doubt that.:flame:

And another idea...since the combine defences have been down and zombies are free to roam the run-down areas freely, is it possible for a gonome re-appearance? Since the zombies would have all the time they need down there to mutate. And would they eventually even become a gonarch?

This thread makes me want to play HL1, I only played and beat it once..

You better play it!
The best thing to come from...VALVe! since 1998.

When i had to lead the garg into the electricity for the first time i was having that adrenaline-ish feeling, that it woud get me.
It makes you wanna look back and just get away from it...:imu:
